Fandom Radio, Friday, January 16th

Isn't it a little early in the year for truth? Shouldn't that be saved for the brief period between the end of elections and the start of the holiday season?

*chittering*

Whatever. Welcome to Fandom.

Cecil here, everybody, coming to you from a brand new day, because squirrels are capricious. And apparently you were all pretty busy yesterday, so I can't wait to get to the news!

In Self Defense, Atton was in a mood, and declared that there would be silent shooting for the class. SILENT. The students paired up to fight monsters, or went it alone. And after class, Atton gave Sparkle a weapon-y gift and they commiserated about how terrible the day is. I don't know, I don't think it was that bad, except for the cold.

There was a movie day in History of Poisons, since Karla gave birth and oo, congratulations! Whatever it is, I hope it's healthy and happy!

The Art of BS had a hard time yesterday, because duh, so they wrote their bullshit down in the form of brochures, with varying degrees of success.

Also Independent Study met, and they talked about their research topics.

In a hermit shack in the woods Obi-Wan was doing some carpentry on his new home, which the squirrels seem to approve of, and Jalian stopped by and said hi and met the eopies, whatever those are.

In the salle, Cassandra was training really hard, and then Andros came by, and they critiqued the island and their home worlds.

Anakin Skywalker - you know, the dean - had office hours yesterday, and was cursing a lot. Atton dropped off some booze and they had a fake-drunk chat about people who don't love them.

*chittering AWWWW.*

I know, isn't it sad? I hope you both get to have a real-drunk chat later.

Bob the ghost stuck his head through the door and scared Anakin. He wanted to know when he's getting an office, and by the way, could he learn some of those curse words?

*chittering!*

If you are teaching them, by the way, the squirrels would like to learn, too! And maybe me. It seems like they might be pretty useful.

Anyway, Anakin Skywalker - you know, the dean - also texted for a bit with Jaina, who learned that it was Truth Day, and with Rory, who discussed how alcohol is kind of redundant.

*chittering*

But fun, yes. And occasionally necessary. I agree.

Kitty got back from New York and started unpacking, and then she and Clint talked about missing each other when she's away, and then the magic of Truth Day helped them agree to move in with each other. Which the squirrels are awwing about again.

In the dorms, Amy made some coffee and had an awkwardly honest phone call with her friend from home, then offered Anders money to take her phone for the day and gave him an embarrassingly honest account of her problems at home, involving unrequited lesbian love and sexual mistakes. Ronan also got to hear the story, and then they talked about the ethics of gory revenge, which apparently he's for. Isn't everybody? Honestly.

Flick hid in his room, because that way he wouldn't talk, but then he got a call from Isabelle. Travis was having Truth Day trouble giving a friend good advice - Travis, the squirrels are there for you. Gwen was pretty unfazed by the Truth Day thing, but that was before she and Travis wound up admitting to each other that they've both been dead before. Oh. Wow. Well, I'm sure a lot of people have, so...no biggie, right? Or something.

Rapunzel was upset about having offended her chameleon, but Gwen topped it by spilling the whole death thing again. Rapunzel was very sympathetic, and then they started talking about how Rapunzel grew up locked in a tower and how her hair is magic. Vider and Gwen were scared the squirrels would heard stuff - which apparently they did - and discussed possible bribes. Which I'm guessing they didn't get to, because I have these notes. Rapunzel couldn't stop herself from asking Travis how he got his scar, and it turns out it's from being dead, which she didn't much like hearing. Oops. Vider and Rapunzel talked about the hot boy Vider accidentally complimented, and where Vider got her tattoo, and Vider told Travis that she was there to steal the food, but he was good with that.

Also, Anna knocked on Elsa's door and said she really wanted to be let inside. They had a heart-to-heart about how Elsa loves Anna, really, but she's afraid of hurting her. Oh, no; that's so sad! And Anna had no idea that that was keeping Elsa away. And Anders played phone games on his bed because it was safe and quiet there.

Later on in one of the common rooms, Johnny wasn't too bothered by the Truth Day stuff, or by Kate Hudson on TV. Johnny and Hanna had a conversation that turned all sexual-like pretty quickly. It turns out Hanna's only been kissed once before, and Johnny would happily kiss her if he didn't have a girlfriend. But he's scared he's going to mess that up, so stay tuned for more details as they happen!

Gwen showed up with duct tape over her mouth, and Hanna tried telling her she was sympathetic, but Gwen wasn't really very talky, because duct tape. Johnny thought the duct tape was kind of dramatic, but perked up when Gwen nonverbally communicated that she shared her big secret with people earlier, then told her she's his best friend! Nifty! Rapunzel and Johnny agreed that Kate Hudson is pretty, and Rapunzel critiqued Johnny's pick-up lines, but she's cool with whatever as long as he doesn't lie to her. Rapunzel and Hanna talked about the movie and Rapunzel's hair, Alana and Johnny had a really cute and honest relationship chat - basically, other people are hot, but they're happy with each other, and Hanna and Alana were more annoyed than upset by the Truth Day thing, and shared their minor insecurities.

Heading into down, Dr. Lecter - whose food is to die for - listened to the radio, then had some breakfast. Jono came by, and they talked about presents and how Jono really likes to get them but isn't used to it yet, and Kayla, who apparently is Karla's new daughter. Raven came by, too, and they caught up on Glacia happenings and sat down for breakfast, and later on, Eliot - ugh - came by, and got a very honest account of the beef between Hannibal and Anakin Skywalker - you know, the dean.

Elsewhere, Rinoa wanted to pick a fight with Squall and was very honest about her intentions, and they went on to have a very honest and direct fight about him belittling her and details about their past and their friends that they interpreted differently, and also apparently she's pissed he hasn't asked her to marry him, but he thought he had? So whatever.

Over at Luke's, Eliot admitted to the staff that he was a criminal, but now he's a nice guy - so he says! I knew he was untrustworthy. They told him he's still scary with a knife, too. Derek showed up and it didn't take long for him and Eliot to realize what was happening, and Derek got to tell him that this isn't the first time it's happened, and it probably won't be the last. Parker also came by and got the real rundown on how Derek ended up attacking Eliot (while they were both possessed) and made Eliot tell her that he likes her and their team more than anyone here. Which isn't saying much.

*chittering*

Oh, fine. The squirrels think it's adorable. *sigh*

Moving on, Irene went to the Perk and got something to drink without talking at all, because she's smart. Jack - the only one - talked to her, and she ended up admitting that she's pretending to be dead as far as people from home know, and he admitted he's a werewolf. Jack also accidentally told Derek that he thinks he's hot, and Derek told Jack he thinks of him like a brother, which...sounds really awkward. Oops? Sorry, guys; that's never fun.

Irene admitted to Derek that she didn't really know anything about running a shop, and they ended up talking about failing all the people they care about. I'm so sorry. That's really never fun, is it?

Amy made a sign for Dite's Decadent Delights promising to complete transactions in a totally silent manner, which I'm sure some folks probably really appreciated.

A crankier-than-usual Derek was bartending at the Devil's Nest when Pinkie came by to visit him, and Derek ended up admitting things like the fact that he enjoys working with her and that she makes him have fun and he likes it. Awwwww!

And meanwhile at Caritas, Cara was being totally quiet, because she's smart like that.

Anyway, it's Friday now, and we can all get back to telling all our socially acceptable and municipally mandated lies, which is probably a big relief to a lot of you listeners out there. Everybody have a great day, and until next week, I leave you with the weather!
