Fandom Radio, Thursday, August 14

Waitaminute! Why are you pulling me here? I don't do radio!

*Annoyed-sounding yips and barks.*

Oh! Barry! Did you send the squirrels to kidnap me? Why didn't you send them for Elsa? You weren't even sleeping in my room last night!

*More barking*

I'm not even going to pretend I know what you're saying, but it probably has to do with her hips and--OHMIGOSH THE LIGHT IS ON! Why didn't anyone tell me the light was on! How much did everyone hear?

*Amused chittering*

Okay, I didn't really understand that, either, but the answer is probably 'Enough' and let's just get to the news, shall we? Umm, hi, I'm Kathy Li, filling in for Barry since he's still a dog. Which means that this broadcast will have like 400% fewer f-bombs and threats, so that's a good thing I hope? I also hope the morning finds you all well and that everyone who still has finals has good luck on them! Just another week before the new semester and new students, so that's exciting--just think of all the new classes we can take and the new friends we can make. I'll be signing up for some independent AP courses this semester, too, so if anyone wants to join me--

*A loud cacophony of barking and chittering.*

Ow! Ow! Okay, enough with the nuts! Sorry! Reading the notes now! Little furry tyrants. Yes, Barry, you're included in that.

First up in School, we had more final classes, though none of them were really giving out finals. In Everything's A Weapon, Reno explained that in lieu of recent trauma, we weren't going to Disneyland but rather got to hit previous enemies with bumper cars. Which was absolutely planned, of course, and not at all a Danger Shop malfunction. Which is good, because the idea of a Danger Shop malfunction is terrifying.

Barry? Barry? Why did you start pawing at paper like you had an idea? Whatever you're thinking, stop it right now, or I'll make you give rides to all the baby squirrels in the park.

Anyway, we TAs were there, and Karina came over to talk to me. About stuff. And you know, as radio host, that all I really need to say about it. Moving on, Practical Philosophy met, only this time Cade was in charge as a test by Mr. Wiggin. Cade had us try to come up with other terrible ideas that could be used to break spells, like the hugging thing and the carnival. So remember, if the next time something horrible happens and it can only be solved by excessive drinking or singing songs and holding hands, blame Cade.

...I think the squirrels are excited by that idea. Well, if that does happen, I guess they can come to our rescue?

In another class devoted to horrible things--sorry, Mr. Lyman--Customer Service and You met up at Chilly Boulder to learn how to make the...does that say 'Skywalker?' Okay, yeah, they had to make and then eat the Skywalker, which is the most ridiculous sundae on the menu, I guess. Umm, no reflection on the family, I'm sure.

*Dubious chittering*

Hush, you lot. That wasn't very nice. Fun With Microwaves! met for the last time this summer, and they got to microwave Christmas lights which actually sounds super-cool. Then, over in the offices, Professor Balthazor picked an office at random and hung out. He was visited by Dean Skywalker who came by to...does this say flirt? Or fight? Your handwriting is terrible and--WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE FLAGS? They were NOT here a second ago!

...I just don't even want to know. Instead, I'm declaring that whatever happened between two consenting adults in that office involving cold showers and ball pits is none of my business and moving on to Dorms, where the only note of relevance is that the best roommate ever was having a nice, lazy day. I would have been there, too, but some puppy decided that he needed someone with hands in his lab all day. Even if that someone was then nipped at and barked every time she turned around.

Not that I'm naming names or anything.

Over in town, Mr. Wayne was hanging up posters around town to let everyone know about his going away party at Caritas. That'll be Saturday evening, for anyone who doesn't see one between now and then. Kira was out of sorts at the Perk this afternoon and looking at pics on her phone. Flick stopped by to cheer her up--see, I said he was awesome--and found out that Kira is actually a kit--oh. Umm, this might not need to go on the radio. Anyway, he found out that Kira was dealing with some stuff right now and was appropriately sympathetic. Professor Hale apparently knew about some of the stuff that Kira is going through and said that he could come to her any time if she had questions. Well, that's very sweet of him. And also kind of interesting...

I mean, never mind. It's no one's business besides Kira's. I hope everyone respects her privacy while she figures stuff out and, yes, squirrels, I'm talking to you, too.

Which is why we're jumping over to Wayne Enterprises where Maddie was cleaning out her office--because she's leaving soon, not because it's closing, even though Mr. Wayne is leaving. Mr. Hatter, who owns a lovely tea store in town that should not ever be set on fire, even during crazy weekends when you think you're a leader of a dope ring, was in the park eating a muffin and fending off flamingos. He's right, by the way, you shouldn't actually feed bread to waterfowl, it's not good for them. So good on you, Mr. Hatter! Eleanor was listening to random CDs at Groovy Tunes, where...where we can apparently still buy CDs. Does it also sell CD players? Do people actually buy them? Is this suddenly 2002 and no one told me?

*Reproving chittering*

Well, no, I don't mean to be mean, but honestly! We have MP3s for a reason! And I...and I am going to continue reading these notes because the squirrels are picking up the nuts again and I don't want anymore acorn-shaped bruises. So, Ichabod stopped by and Eleanor 'played it super-casual.' Okaaay. Not sure what that means, but sure! Lastly, Kenzi was at Luke's where NOTHING WAS ON FIRE REALLY! Which is definitely reassuring, thank you.

So, that's the last of the notes and I just realized that sometime during this broadcast I started understanding what the squirrels were saying, sorta, and now I have to go lie down and question everything about my life and my choices to stay here.

*Barking*

And by that, I mean go for walkies in the park and then report to the science mines. Have a great morning Fandom! And again, good luck to everyone with classes today!
