Fandom Radio, Sunday, July 13th

Hey there, dames and gents. It's that time yet again, where I get to peek into everything you've been doing and either telling you all about it or keeping some things quiet for later financial negotiation. As always, you know me as The Voice In the Darkness., coming into the light for you this fine Sunday.

Let's get started, shall we? It was a busy - if cloudy and rainy - day, after all, and your secrets just can't wait to be exposed.

School? Heh. Even in the best of times during the week, there's nothing there worth reporting. You and I both know that the only school worth half a damn around here is the one of Hard Knocks, like the one you're liable to get upside the back of your head if you don't watch out.

Dorms, on the other hand, held my interest. That's where Joker awoke with a start after a nightmare. Don't worry, Joker, there are places where you can replace those nasty dreams with some nasty dreams. That should help with a good night's rest.

It's also where something had apparently happened to Nathan in the second floor parlor. Not only did he have to deal with books being strewn all about the place, but he seemed to be out of touch with the kind of jazz going on around here. He must be suffering from some weird Fandom stuff. Don't worry, you'll be fine. The weekend's almost over.

But case in point, Cade came in, hepcat that he is, and I don't think poor little Nate would even understand me calling him that. No matter what Cade was selling, Nathan didn't even know how currency worked. Jessica sauntered in and once Nathan picked his jaw up off the floor, she tried giving him some life advice, the kind that could help him keep that life a little longer. But he had so many questions, and we all know what happens to people with too many questions around here. Be careful out there, Nate, you're too pretty to die too soon.

Cade had some questions of his own for Jessica, mostly revolving around marriage and if she would go into such a union with him after he found out that she might be more dangerous than her dress made her look.

Meanwhile, Joker made an impact, calling Nathan clumsy, asking Cade for smokes, and letting Jessica know that the cleanup was being covered, by Nathan.

But as always, and say it with me, girls and boys: if you want to know what's going down, the place to be is in town.

Big news broke early yesterday morning as Bruce Wayne was found dead first thing in the morning. First on the scene was Wayne's most recent wife, Kenzi, who we'll be hearing more from shortly. But close after her was Vic Moretti, doing her damn job and investigating death when a mysterious woman escaped from the hotl and left a clue. Will it pan out? I don't know that much. I just know that Moretti won't leave a clue unturned.

In that beautiful mansion Derek sets up shop in, business was good. That goes for both the legitimate business of private detecting as well as the fun times that I think we all know happen there.

But let's start with the dicks. Derek and Jack went over a case when Jackson walked in and they discussed how best to use him for the business. Jackson seemed confused by everything Derek and Jack said, which makes it sound like we've got something going on this weekend. That's two people without their wits about them. For their sakes, I hope they've reached their lack-of-wits' end. Knowing they needed somebody to keep an eye on Jacky-boy, Kira was asked to keep her peepers plastered his way, which she had no problem doing, let me tell you.

And then in the back, there was what I will generously call a probably legal gathering of like-minded folks who like to play games, where Eliot fielded questions from Dinah, a new detective looking for a man. A specific man, for her job, that is.

And then, of course, was your typical private party. You know the kind. Venom had some beverages, and a little bit of judgment from Derek due to his pronoun issues. But Derek and Eric played anothr round of their gamewhere I still don't know if they'll end up romancing each other, bo, or everyone all together. All I do know is that it won't end happily. It never does around here.

The Count sent Eric a drink before taking his turn at the piano. But speaking of the piano, that's where Bo held court. On top of it, naturally. And if you know Bo, you know she sent tongues wagging, most notably Venom's. I hear it's prehensile.

But enough of dames and tongues. It's time to check in with another dick. This time, it's Nikolai, who was trying to work out a lead on Lady Dokkaebi when he was visited by a new dame named Katherine, who needed help finding her sister. But she wasn't the only pair of legs with a body attached looking for some help, because Dinah wanted to find out if he had the scoop on some bird in her hometown.

Hannibal was checking the books and certainly not cooking them over in his den of no sin at all when Eliot came in with some complaints about that reporter, Gershwin.

Over in her kitchen, Cara continued her interest in cartography.

And just like every night, people had to get ready for some action at the Magic Box. Not only did Rita have her, ahem, less than ecstatic normal routine, but Karla and her sister, Elsa got ready to head to the club, well aware that Elsa's 16th birthday is today. And we all know what that means. Try to have a happy one, doll.

At the Chilly Pipes, Lips caught up on the news before the news caught up with him in the form of some visitors. Kenzi came by with some literature on business insurance that Lips didn't seem thrilled about. Hannibal was his usual thoughtful self and brought over some "instruments" for Lips to check out. And Momoko tried to find her brother Boz, but Lips couldn't help much.

Navaan kept up shop at the Triple D's, Jimmy Bond was looking for some special services which led to Silver handing him an envelope. And also in the office, Kenzi caught Lady Dokkaebi up on everything from her recent wedding and widowing to business plans.

Mr Hatter had the Seventh Street Bar and Lounge looking snazzy when Lady D and Kenzi showed up to talk shop and see if he might be interested in putting some new items on his menu. Turns out, he wasn't. Once they were gone, Momoko showed up to ask Hatter about her brother, meaning she was 0-for-2 on reaching PIs..

Pinkie kept things on the right side of the law over at Luke's, which is probably why it was packed Ricki tried playing some games, but as it turned out Barry was just better at it than she was. Kenzi told Pinkie her widow's tale, with some embellishents. It sounds like he went out happier in her version of the story, though.

As Alana got ready for her shift, she asked if Pinkie ever worried about the fuzz, and sure enough that's when Moretti</> busted in to get some answers from Pinkie about Kenzi's relationship with Bruce. And of course, Momoko asked Pinkie about her brother, making her o-for-3.

Back at the station, Moretti had a visitor of her own in Dinah, who had some questions about her Black Canary case. Moretti was more focused on the cases in her jurisdiction, though.

Finally making our way to The Magic Box, Rita was running the place and waiting to take her turn on stage. While Dinah was getting a drink, Momoko approached and FINALLY got to a PI about her brother. You can hardly throw a football in this town without hitting a dick, so it's good to see Momoko finally get one.

The musical acts were top notch as always, but Elsa's made Karla worry about Angelface. Anders had no such problems, though, and Rita lt him know that she approved of his work out there.

Leon let Rita know that Angelface would be happy with her performance, but she only cared about Leon's reaction... and maybe about the performance they would have later in the night if I'm reading between the lines right.

Dinah was still picking at the Canary case, but neither Karla nor Elsa had anything that could put her on the right path.

And Moretti followed her bloodhound nose to even the stinkiest places, waiting for Rita after the show to get whatever information she could on the Bruce Wayne case, but still turning up no leads.

Mike E had a nice, quiet day over at Abe's Drugs while The Count was running things at the Black Swan Theatre when Raven stopped by for a chat about how to make his business safer.

Kitty was the latest victim of whatever this strangeness was, forgetting all about the liquor bans that should have kept business at Caritas down. But when Moretti raided the place, she was more concerned about information on Bruce Wayne. Also, word has it the Zombie Band has a new sax player. I hear he knows what he's doing when it comes to a night of hot, sweaty sax.

And somewhere on a darkened street, a young dame made a pay phone call.

That's all from The Voice in the Darkness today, my darlings. Just remember, if you do something in this town, the Voice will know, and the Voice will ring out through the Darkness.
