Fandom Radio, Tuesday, January 14th

Good morning, Fandom. Cecil here, on a brand new day. That's always nice, isn't it? Repeating the old ones can just get so boring. Still, you never know when you might have to, so just in case, I'm here with the news - and an awful lot of squirrels - to tell you all just what happened yesterday! You might want to take notes if your memory's spotty. Or striped.

Starting over at the school, the Classic Video games class got introduced to Super Mario Bros. and played it on Nintendo. I don't know; I was always told those things would rot your brain. You might want to head down to the clinic and stock up on antifungals if you're in that class.

The other games class, It's All Fun and Games, played around on trampolines and got to try some tricks. That does sound like fun! Just don't jump too high, okay?

In non-games news, Advanced Criminal Justice showed Batman their skills by fighting ninjas based on their experience levels. Did anybody get that really cute unstealthy one? He's so adorable!

We talked all about clothing in Self-Expression today; clothing's definitely a great way of expressing yourself. And hopefully avoiding the mistakes of previous generations, unless you commit them ironically and with style.

We got to go wild with a ton of clothes in the Danger Shop to try to stretch our imaginations. It really was a lot of fun! They had this adorable wig I tried to get Raven to try on, but she convinced me to wear it instead, and we took a picture to send to ♥Carlos♥. I haven't heard back from him yet, but I'm looking forward to it! Then we dressed me up like her and took a picture for her brother. I've always wanted a twin!

Well, not really. I mean, you get a real twin, you're stuck with the whole, "Well, one of us has got to be evil!" thing, and there's fighting, and maybe blood, and just...eucch. But a fake twin sister was pretty neat.

Oh, and less twin-like but also cute - Eleanor had a really adorable outfit on, too, and I told her so.

Paige had office hours today, and took the time to move her things in and do some work on the computer.

In the dorms, Flick packed up and texted a bunch of people to say he was heading out. No word on if it's permanent or just a vacation, so maybe somebody could take some notes for him if you're in his class? That'd be nice of you.

Isabelle checked in to see how long he'd be gone and worried at him, especially when he told her some of what's changed at his home since they last spoke. The squirrels are being uncharacteristically coy about it, though, so your guess is as good as mine. Unless you're Isabelle, in which case, let us know!

Kathy also came by, and joked about going through his things while he was gone and told him he didn't have to go home if he didn't want to, but he doesn't seem to have listened.

In the salle this morning, Alec was practicing sword-fighting. He thought he heard something, and called out, "Hello?" Which, let me tell you, never ends well. Honestly, if you hear weird noises, hide or run. Nothing good ever comes of it. Case in point, Chuck said hello back. Ugh, is that guy still being a jerk? Alec asked if he heard anything, but no word on if he did. Anya also wondered if that hello was for her, but presumably was a little nicer about it.

Later, Anya tried to call her dad from her room, then looked around and declared that something creepy was going on. Do you think it's spreading?

*chittering*

Well, yes, other than that.

*chittering*

Well, be careful and keep an eye out, okay?

At 7:00 last night, all the electronics in the 1st floor rec room disappeared, to be replaced by old-fashioned toys. That lasted until 9:00. Hope nobody missed any important shows!

Topher came by and complained about the "caveman toys", after which Mavis explained what a hula hoop was for. Oo, that sounds fun! We should hula hoop some time, Mavis! Let me know!

Billy asked if the old toys were because there was an antique sale, and Topher just hoped the school hasn't starting a "Turn off the TV" initiative. Why would they do that? How would they keep us all pacified and happy if we didn't have TV? Honestly, this place is so weird sometimes.

Cosette was playing with one of the toys when Scott dropped by. He googled to find out what it was, and in the process introduced Cosette to Google. I hope they get along! Scott then went all "WTF?" told Anya he wanted to play a video game. He explained it to her, and she told him about hearing things earlier. I'm...not entirely sure these things are related, but I'm not sure they're not, either.

There was also a bit happening in town today.

At Luke's, Gert didn't choose the daily specials, and the food the cooks ended up preparing was a little...pungent.

Down on the beach - which it's still far too cold to be going to! - Celia made a sandcastle using her powers. Nifty! Will stopped by and complimented her snowman...I'm not sure if that means it wasn't a very good sandcastle or there was also a snowman...and then they talked about the weather where they were from and about the fact they both grew up moving a lot. I still don't think that sounds very fun.

Isaac and Isabelle had a date at Taste for Thai, and Isaac said he was really hungry on account of the full moon. There was also a lot of talk about...it says here, "eating raw meat, and evil tree stumps, which is apparently a druid thing". I'm...not sure if they're eating the tree stumps or not. I'll take the raw meat over the evil, thanks.

Over at the Perk, Speed Demon was really impatiently trying to get the barista to make him a coffee with his own alcohol in it. Kitty stared at him for a while, trying to figure out who he was, because of his costume. But he wouldn't say, and Google was no help at all.

If he wanted alcohol, he could have gone to either of the bars. Jack was at The Devil's Nest, trying to figure out a scent that Tiny and the DJ couldn't smell. Kaidan came in looking for a beer, and they talked about his how hard it was writing a syllabus for such a diverse group of students.

Éponine also stopped in, to give Jack a late Christmas present. Apparently it was, and I'm quoting the squirrels here, "a book that is totally not a secret storage case for a flask, honest". If you can trust the squirrels; they do know all about hiding alcohol, after all. Then they also talked - Jack and Éponine, not the squirrels - about how she recognized one of the students.

Meanwhile, at Caritas, Kenzi - hi, Kenzi! - was giving free shots to anyone who would tell her their worst nightmare. Actual nightmare or theoretical one? Because I have to say, some of the city-mandated ones back home are doozies! Bruce came by and didn't think much of the idea, but he shared one anyway - one where his parents are dead - and got a free shot. Well done, Bruce! See, not such a bad idea after all.

That's all the notes the squirrels have for today, so I guess I'll be heading out, and I'll see you all next time. Until then - whenever that is - I leave you with the weather.
