Fandom Radio, Wednesday, September 18th
Good morning, listeners. Cecil here, with the news for Tuesday, September 17th. It seems to have been a pretty slow day yesterday. By which I mean - I hope - that there wasn't a lot happening, and not that time ran slower than usual. That would be awful; it would take me forever to age back up!
*chittering*
Whew! Well, that's good, anyway.
Classes seem to have gone fairly well yesterday. The cooking class talked all about oils. I'm rather partial to imaginary corn oil myself, but I haven't seen it around here; I may have to ask about it. Apparently this class got to taste a lot of different fancy oils, and cook with them, and eat things cooked in them. And nobody set anything on fire! Or well, the building's still standing, at least. As far as we can all tell.
In Ethics, Anakin Skywalker - you know, the Dean - talked about choices and simulated a grocery store where the students each had a different ethical challenge to face. Nifty! Personally, my favorite has always been, if someone threatens to explode a bomb and you catch him but can't find it, is it okay trap him in a small, dark box in an alternate dimension until he talks, or should you just keep trying different triggering frequencies until it explodes?
*chittering*
"Well of course you'd say that." Exasperated sigh. "Squirrels. Anyway, after the shopping, the students discussed their choices.
In my history class, Mr Poole talked about the lost city of Helike, which is sort of like Atlantis but drier, and then he took us to a simulation of it. Which was nice, but really far too cold! Fortunately, there were plenty of clothes to bundle up in before we explored the city.
After class, we talked about the awful cold, and the fact that maybe we don't want to make the island angry. Though if it is listening, Raven wants to know if it maybe would snow glitter, and I am definitely in favor of that!
In the hand-to-hand combat class, Mr Hansen apologized for being out last week, then explained katas and had his TAs demonstrate them.
Max wandered around as usual, presumably demonstrating those katas for any non-bipeds in the class, and then everyone paired off to practice.
In the library, which it still feels very odd to say without "fatalities" or "mutilations" in the same sentence, William bore witness to...huh?
*chittering*
Are you sure?
*decisive chittering* Okay, it says here, "bore witness to science fiction book series trekking into some kind of war. My stars." The squirrels swear that some of you will get that, so I imagine it's a coded message of some sort. If you understand it, please do as it says.
Not much was going on in the dorms, but Flick punched the heck out of a punching bag and then relaxed. That sounds very violent and cathartic; well done, Flick!
And over in town, there was a fox in the post office. It wasn't causing any trouble, but Éponine was trying to figure out what to do about it. It would probably have been much easier if she knew what it said.
At Luke's, Bay noticed that one of the chefs was very excited about fall coming. Fall of what?
*exasperated chittering*
Oh. But what falls? Apart from the Earth, I mean we're always falling through space, right? But other than that…
*chittering*
Leaves? … Oh! Right. Deciduous. Sorry. And apologies to any trees out there I may have offended by failing to realize and acknowledge your differences from the plants I'm accustomed to. I'm terribly sorry if I was exclusionary!
Meanwhile, at the Arms Hotel, Mary was folding towels and Gunther kept coming to bug her. Next time, Mary, make him fold the towels!
Last night at Caritas, Kitty was watching TV on her phone - does the bar not have a TV? What kind of self-respecting gathering place doesn't have at least one screen of mindless indulgences? Sometimes, I think this place is very odd. Anyway, she wasn't forced to do too much squinting, because after checking to make sure she wasn't too busy, Clint came over to flirt.
And that's all the news for yesterday, and the squirrels haven't even been very restless today! Now, wasn't that a much more pleasant broadcast?
*derisive chittering*
That had nothing to do with it! Honestly, you -
*angry chittering*
Fine, then! Hmph. *deep breath* Dear listeners, thank you for allowing me to bring you the news from Fandom for yesterday. And since I think I'm still feeling the cold from that class, I leave you with - the weather.
