Fandom Radio, Sunday, September 1st

Well, well, well, fall semester is just about to start. It seems like only a week ago that summer ended.

My name is Jessica Drew and this is WTFH, Fandom's favorite and only pirate radio station with the first broadcast after yesterday's welcome picnic. In case your big sibs or teaching buddies didn't warn you, every day we have somebody hop on the airwaves and report all of the events of the previous day, give or take a little accuracy based on time, completeness of our notes, and the legibility of the notes. Also, sometimes we get bored and not a lot happened. I promise that this is not a big brother situation where we are watching you constantly.

The squirrels are doing that. You can either believe me now or wait until you see a little guy with a notepad. But in time, you will believe. Thanks to the squirrels for giving me some great reverb on that.

Anyway, I know what you did yesterday, and now so will you.

As per tradition, I'm saving the welcome picnic for the end, because that's a big stack of notes and I'd rather get through the easy stuff first. So let's jump straight to town, where new kid Cecil hopped through a portal to discover that he - and, as we'll soon find, just about everyone else had a flower crown on their head for no good reason.

Over at Luke's, Dean was stuck with his crown when Priestly came down to check if it was cool if Dinah stayed in the apartment. In said apartment apartment, Priestly got things ready for Dinah, who stopped by after the picnic to catch up on the fun times in Karla's world.

And at the Arms, Nikolai had phone issues. By which I mean the phone was not plugged in. First step in tech support.

And then there were all of the little stories, the untold stories, that we will never know because all of the squirrels were deployed elsewhere. And since I have no idea what those are, we go to the Welcome Picnic, a party in two parts, where everyone was probably wearing a flower crown unless otherwise stated.

Kicking things off was the student's sibling meetup. Sholeh was kind enough to bring cookies for Isaac, who it turns out knows Stiles, so he's already familiar with the special Fandom wacky. Speaking of Stiles, he broke the news to Raleigh about the wacky and so poor Raleigh's brain got broke. Which is probably a good time to let people know that if they have broken robotic brains, I'll be at Stark's the rest of the day, ready to do repairs. Ahem. Advertising time over.

Isabelle was already up to speed on the crazy stuff since she's Alec's real sister, so fake sister Sia had an easy time of it. Victor had it a little rougher, having to explain the whole thing to Vider, who knows a version of Loki. Presumably, a version who doesn't want to cheerlead. Rah Rah Loki got along just swimmingly with Danny, and they're already plotting to shave teachers. So, um, beware.

Back to people who are Fandom-ready, Cecil comes from a crazy place, so Anna mostly just got into specifics. I met Alana, who seems extremely nice, and hit a few of the recent high points in Fandom. Ask about the sharknado, new kids! And rounding things out, Yeul and Daphne had a good first meeting.

And then it was time to switch up talking partners for roommate talk. Sholeh had cookies for Cecil, but that just made him suspicious. Raleigh was uncomfortable about rooming with a girl, but Isabelle seemed pretty happy about her part in the arrangement. Pretty much the same story for Scott and Vider, if you replace Isabelle's "Awww yeah" with more of a "Okay, whatever." Danny manned up and didn't have any potential problems rooming with Alana, who was a little thrown by the thought of rooming with ANYONE. And finishing off an all co-ed batch of housing were the very fashionable Sparkle and Daphne. And I'm just going to suggest Fandom's What Not To Wear right now. Take it, leave it, do what you will, but it had to be mentioned.

And then you know that area where all of the people above the age of 18 were? Yes, that was the teacher area, where teachers meet and queue up to threatening horrible supervillains, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Riley was sad about being a high school teacher, to which Kitty was all "But this is a really WEIRD high school!" and then hey bonded about history. Isaac is a transplant from Stiles and Derek's home, so he said hi to Kitty, who he's met, and talked smack about Derek. Yeul and Dinah both checked in on a rough-looking Jono. Yeul gave him healing potion, Dinah gave him a hug.

Herc Hansen - who the squirrels are lusting over pretty aggressively, and I only mention that because I honestly don't think I've ever seen the word 'dilf' written out before - checked in with Anakin, who got to tell Herc that he's in the past.

And then we get to Doctor Doom, who is 1) not terribly popular here and 2) has an even dumber real name than the Doom in my world did. Seriously, his name in my world is Victor van Damme, you know, like Jean Claude? His is von Doom. That's his actual last name. von Doom. Actual name.

Anyway, everyone hates and threatens him. Anakin's family was kidnapped by him years ago, so there's threat number one. Clint's his teaching buddy who JUST MET HIM and found himself making threat number two. Loki called a truce with him, which makes sense. Kitty has long-term issues with him, so she gave threat number three. Jaina was number four, presumably in part because of the 'kidnapping Anakin's family' thing. Victor went subtle for number five, implying that Doom had to be a Doombot since it would be dumb to show up on an island full of heroes when you're the world's most obvious villain.

Is that a new record? Five threats before the end of the welcome picnic? The squirrels might have to check the tape from when we got a Magneto.

Hannibal asked Batman how he got his flower crown off. The trick is to not get one in the first place. Dinah was giddy to find a new - and apparently returning - teacher named Minsc at the picnic, but not as giddy as Pinkie Pie was because she and him are teaching buddies. And I think we all know how she feels about friendship by now. Neither Derek nor Jack - a new Jack, not Priest - were happy to be there, but at least she got an apartmen out of it. Kaidan and Jack know each other, but come from different points in the timeline, which is always weird. Speaking of timeline weirdness, Isaac knows Derek, but Derek doesn't know Isaac, but he already wants Isaac to just leave him alone because that's how Derek rolls. Derek was straight up mad at Kitty for her recent adventures in Stiles's time and really wanted her to leave him alone.

Doom was off making friends with the Ice King, which resulted in a verbal war that, well, Doom probably could have won without saying a word. Electroclash approached Icey K to take funny pictures before realizing he was her teaching buddy, which she did before he realized he was a teacher. Clint and Kitty talked about the double D's: Derek and Doom. And Kaidan carefully approached the subject of the weird stuff here with Jess, who is a teacher and not me.

And now to the general mingling portion of the picnic, how else can we start but with that big, fluffy polar bear dog, Naga, requesting and getting pets from Isaac. Derek caught up with Stiles and they talked Denny's, Isaac, and Scott. Clint offered help to Stiles if there's anything he needs. Cade whined about the flower crowns and said that he only bathes once a month. The worst thing is that I'm not positive that's a joke. Atton was whiney, too, but then Sia mentioned bees and I'm sure that improved his outlook on things. We might have had flower crowns, but at least we didn't have a killer bee invasion, too.

Maddie was back - hi, Maddie! - and Victor welcomed her back. In person, not over the radio like me. Raven had a picnic set up at the picnic, and Danny complimented her on it instead of getting lost in the recursive picnics. Or as I like to call it, Pic-ception. Theo was having issues with his flower crown despite Raven complimenting it, which was step one toward him eventually telling her about his brother. Raleigh was thrown by Liara's blueness, but she patiently explained that sometimes, yes, Fandom had blue beings and magical dungeons and temporary gender-bending.

Karolina returned, which meant that she and Liara got to be awkward around each other. Danny and Korra agreed that nobody should be stabbing each other, which seems to be inspired by some unique slang he was throwing around. Cade explained to Vider that the flower crowns should be gone by today, and it seems as thought he was telling the truth. And Flick and Emma bonded over sneaking food out of the picnic while Flick explained why he was glad not to have a crown.

Cade was confused that Emma was managing to make the flower crown work and then started hoping for a leather pants day. Flick explained to Isaac how to get food from the common rooms (Step 1: Go to common room. Step 2: Get food. Step 3: Repeat) before they compared town weirdness. Flick and Loki got into some teasing banter before talking about Loki's marriage, because apparently that's a thing. Cade and Raleigh bro'ed up when Cade told the story of the time he was a girl and threw a bikini beach party.

Karolina caught up with Jim after being gone for the summer, telling about her time in space and her almost-marriage. Cecil and Anna compared the weird things that have happened to them, and I've got to go with Anna because being a ghost trumps being deaged any day of the week. Derek checked out Scott all sneaky-like, but not sneaky enough to avoid ever-watchful eyes of the squirrels. Stiles just talked to Scott, who is from the past but is still Stiles' BFF. Kenzi went ahead and straight up stole food from Toby. And Kenzi and Éponine talked about Kenzi's new living situation and the fact that Mike is a human IKEA.

Actually, that would probably be Thor. Loki's probably responsible for the instructions. Come on guys, you know this is closer to being true than it is a complete joke.

Anyway, that's all from me today. Good luck getting used to everything, new kids!
