Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Fandom! This is Nadia Santos, back in radio form for the evening, and broadcasting live from something like a billion years in the future outside New New York (and you'd think after a billion years, they'd've gotten more creative in naming things, but noooooo). How am I doing it? I have no idea. Something about the TARDIS and the effect of a sonic screwdriver.
I didn't even think I'd be doing this again so soon. The squirrels are texting me. They have some impressive spelling, for squirrels.
Pile of rubble
The Office was open today for teachers to sign up to run detentions.
Dorms or cabins or, um, something
Looks like a poster went up, advertising cheerleading tryouts next Saturday, 10 am to 12 pm. Good luck to everyone trying out, but no one had better replace me as mascot. That mask is fugly, but it's mine, baby.
The Minotaur campfire this morning, a kid named Robin played "Rocket Man" on a banjo. Man, I miss Fandom sometimes. He told Jim E. all about being a "muppet" and a frog. Wait, so does that mean he's French, or is he an actual, you know, frog? And, hey, wait, wasn't Marty's chicken a "muppet", too?
And at the Curupira campfire, Qui-Gon did some meditative kata thingies. And I probably pronounced both "Curupira" and "Qui-Gon" wrong, but what can you do when you're reading them off of a cellphone? He let Billy in on the secret that he's "not from around here"--or, er, there, I guess, since here is way far away from Fandom--and that he's from Coruscant instead. We've had other students from there, haven't we? Anyway. Qui-Gon and Katara compared notes on the Force and water-bending and agreed to find some water later in the week to show off at each other. Molly and Katara decided to throw things at their new little sibs. I've found that leaving said little sib a voicemail actually works better, but that's just me. Inara and Qui-Gon got to know each other better by playing the "my homeland is further away and more meditative than your homeland" game, and then Molly told Inara about LA, and hey, probably won. Katara warned Inara that words have a lot of power in Fandom. That's an excellent warning. I'll have to remember that next time I'm around to break--er, I mean meet the new kids. Some kid named Warren apparently knows not a single thing about I Ching or Tai Chi. I admit, neither do I. But I do like chai tea. Molly tried to educate him on all things Jedi, but Warren's apparently stubborn and thinks it's all smoke and mirrors. Ohhhhh, now I'm really almost wishing I was still in Fandom. I'd love to see that kid's brain break in half when he finally gets it all figured out. Though that might take a lot, 'cause even Katara's water-bending didn't make a believer out of him.
Qui-Gon knew it was Buffy without looking. It's that delightful perfume she wears, I'm sure, right Warren? *snickers* Buffy and Adam compared cabins, and then Qui-Gon tried to sell him on meditation. Meditation can be very useful. Just watch out for what doors you open, though. You might find yourself passed out in your laundry. Buffy and Will met over coffee and talked about Michelangelo's tastes in pizza toppings. I'm not sure they had pizza in Italy during the Renaissance, but, ooooo, I bet I could get the Doctor to take me there to find out.
Time travel is awesome. New New York has flying cars. Sure, we couldn't get it done by the twenty-first century, but at least we got 'em by the something-billionth.
Will let Katara know about summers in Virginia, I'm thinking probably the fact that they're muggy, and Qui-Gon kept bragging about his mad meditative skills. And I still don't know if I'm pronouncing his name right. And--woah. Jaina had never had coffee, before. Buffy gave her her first taste. I--wow. It's like it's her birthday. That's awesome. Welcome to the world of coffee, Jaina! Katara added a couple warnings I haven't heard before to the usual list, being Zuko and going into portals with Lucas. I'd have to say "going into portals" at all, if you don't know what they're for and where they go, could be bad. But that's just me.
Molly offered to get out her Coruscant scrap book to show Jaina . . . who's apparently also from there. I wonder if she knew Qui-Gon already? She at least got an easier to pronounce name. The two Coruscantians (Coruscanters? Corusc-ants?) talked scheduling and workshops, and Qui-Gon wondered how he ended up in one of his. Paperwork mishap. They happen a lot. But it usually works out okay, in the end.
Over at the Phoenix cabin this afternoon, Cally (HIIIII CALLY! I haven't bought you anything cool yet because the New New York hospital has giant faces in jars, but no gift shop) relaxed, read, and listened to her iPod. According to Conner, this means she's not in the true spirit of camping, but Conner's kind of dumb that way, sometimes, so ignore him. They talked about being able to keep in touch after leaving Fandom. If my cellphone can get text messages from squirrels, then I'm sure there's something that can get worked out.
This evening on the edge of the campground, Annette looked for her cat. Ooof. That sucks. I hope you find it, hon.
I didn't even know she had a cat. . . .
Over at the Abomidable Snowman (they named a cabin after a snow monster? What next, zombie cabin and troll cabin?) campfire, Aravis, who I don't know, built a fire and kept a journal. Hopefully not at the same time. Gavin and Aravis did the getting to know you dance, and Aravis was surprised to find out Gavin's from space. Get used to that feeling, Aravis, it'll stick with you for awhile. Gavin and Naminé decided that the cabin names were some sort of hazing ritual. Oh, but I wish that could be true. I think they're an omen, personally. Naminé met Aravis, who'd never heard of candles. I've actually heard weirder. Meanwhile, at the Basilisk campfire, Teddy (hi, Teddy! How was Japan?) was reading comics. And then, apparently, he met his childhood crush, Johnny Storm. Wow. That must have been interesting. . . . Billy went for the traditional brain breaking on Johnny, but was probably overshadowed by the childhood crush thing. Teddy told Haku that girls don't turn into boys. That's not true, actually. I've been a boy a couple of times. Johnny and Haku have hilarious misunderstandings in a sitcom-y way over whether or not hot dogs are real dogs, and Teddy and Will caught up, which apparently involved Teddy threatening turtles. Huh. Then Teddy told Billy about Japan.
Then there's the Krakenkraken, KRAKEN! campfire, where Jude moped. Hey Jude, don't be afraid. Take a sad song and make it better.
. . .
Okay, yeah, I apologize for that. Rikku stopped by, and there was much cuteness to be had. And naked mutiny. Again. Robin actually asked what he needed to watch out for. Wise kid, that Robin. Rikku and Robin swapped histories. Does that mean that Rikku can play the banjo, now?
Parker woke up in the middle of the night. No notes on why. I hope everything's okay, Parker. Annette slept on the couch of the Platypus cabin (platypus? One of these things is not like the others. . . .) and Dick came by to join her. Much cuteness ensued. Dean got his cooking on, and was joined by John Sheppard, who talked about workshops, and Alec, who argued. This didn't put Dean in a bad enough mood not to welcome Turtle to the cabin, though. Luke and Rory picnicked and caught up and that's completely awesome, and Vi got to meet her big brother, Teddy.
River's going home, but as far as I can tell, will be coming back. She didn't do so well on the letting people know, apparently, though, because Lana didn't find out until she stopped by. Buffy asked how they'll keep in touch. Fandom has a funny way of helping out with that, fortunately. Sometimes. Parker came to give her a proper send-off.
Jaye made some phone calls. Hermione got back, today, and got a chance to meet up with her little sister, Prue. That name sounds familiar for some reason. Hermione and Rikku talked about their respective trips and otherwise got caught up. Haku tried to write a letter home, and apparently this wasn't easy to do? Sakurazaki got all moved in, and Ami did her best not to wake her up. Bridge and Xander picnicked on the beach, and that's totally awesome, and Tori got ready for a date by chilling out and listening to music. My little older sister is totally smart, that way. Isabel spent some time in the preserve before hiding away. I hope everything's okay, with her. Peter Petrelli, who is sometimes called Susan caught up on his reading in Chupacabra's living room, and then bonded with Ed over a love of books. Jaina came inside. Good for her. Johnny keeps a little black books, which the squirrels appear to be "LOL" over, John Sheppard lazed about, and Prue relaxed with some chocolate-y goodness. Smart girl, that one.
Out and about in the town of . . . I was going to rhyme, but I fail
In town, today (I know we're talking about the town, now, because the text message says tee-double you-en-space-en-oh-oh-ess. I think the squirrels just got hip to text-speak. If they send me something asking if they "can has a cheezburger", I quit) Agatha cooked up John a nice dinner at Sparky's. Awwwww. Millie opened up Book Haven. You know, I don't think I ever went there? I'll have to stop by when I get back to town. Haku showed up to look for books on the local culture. Haku is a smart, smart--er. Is Haku a boy or a girl? Well, either way, he or she is smart. Always brush up on the local culture before you start running around somewhere, you know, just in case you end being chased by angry cat people who've been using humans for experimentation. You know, hypothetically. Er.
Leo opened up the Photo Hut, and Rikku stopped by to ask about the ghost hunting signs. Ghost hunting? What does that have to do with photography? . . . Never mind, I don't want to know. Down by the beach, Adam got some practice in. I don't know what he was practicing, so I'm going to guess it was Wagnerian opera.
. . . Oh no. It looks like Cedric and Sam had to say goodbye to Jack, today. I didn't get a chance to do that. Dios. Goodbyes suck. I hope you all still manage to keep in touch.
On a lighter note, though, Aziraphale and Dr. Wilson are back in Fandom. Hello from far away, you guys. I'm sure I'll have lots of stories for you when I get back. Oh, and there's a text here saying that someone named Vala (another kinda familiar name, huh) found herself a place to live in town. Good, 'cause sleeping on the streets? Kind of sucks.
The clinic was quiet for both the morning and afternoon shifts. The Devils Nest is open and looking for someone to bar-tend on Saturday nights. And GOB advertised that he would be performing at Caritas, tonight. Surprisingly, people still showed up, including GOB's brother Buster. Poor Buster. They had sibling rivalry. Also in attendance were Kawalsky, how talked to GOB about workshops and ordered girly drinks, and Aly, who . . . has blue hair, now, apparently. Buster and Kawalsky met and chatted, as well.
Aaaaand the next text just says "the end", so I guess I'm out of notes. Sounds like you're all having a pretty good time and no one's gotten anything else blown up yet, so good job, Fandom, and have a wonderful summer!
