Fandom Radio, Tuesday April 16th
--Right, look, I'm here, but there had better be coff- Ah. Thank you. I don't think I've ever been so thankful to see a bunch of rodents manhandling my coffee mug as I am right now. Notes, then? Notes.
Good morning, Fandom. This is Jonothon Starsmore, here to read the news you probably never thought you'd miss until last week, did you? I'll start with the notes from the School as usual, where Philosophy class watched Space Battles, while Flight and Feminism were both cancelled. You'll probably see a trend of fairly simple lessons this week, I'm sure. Jaina was in her office checking messages from home when Ben called to find out what had happened. Anakin Skywalker had spent the night in his office, where Jaina brought him breakfast and asked about what happened to him in the dungeon. And Bo returned to work at the security office, only to find that it had been redecorated by Kenzi, who asked about the whole ordeal and then also explained that she'd taken over Bo's apartment along with Grace and Arietty while Bo was otherwise occupied elsewhere.
In the Dorms, Peter took some coaxing from Natalie to go and get some sleep after she woke up to find him still awake checking e-mails and doing other work. On the other side of the coin, Topher was in no hurry to get out of bed when Kenzi stopped by with snacks and they compared notes about his trauma and her boredom. Atton didn't bother with classes yesterday, not that there really were any, in favour of watching the sky from the roof. Gert and Old Lace joined him, with Gert pointing out that the roof wasn't the greatest place to be when one is looking to be alone before boggling somewhat at the idea that she ever thought this island was normal. And Jim went out in search of something normal, himself, and he came back to his room with food and booze.
I'd say 'normal' is fairly overrated, but after the week we all had, I think I could use a touch of that in my own life right about now, myself.
In Town, April was up early and having better luck being alone on the roof of the MCA with Cliff. Anakin Solo, meanwhile, woke up with a premonition on Jaina's sofa at the MHA. Allie was in the park doing her usual early-morning-being-in-the-park routine, where Kaidan stopped to check up on her, and after both considered moving to the woods - which won't save you from insanity like that, I'm afraid, mates - Allie admitted that she had asked Jack to kill her if, while we were all in captivity, she started to lose herself to the instinct to hunt people.
Kaidan wasn't thrilled... but I appreciate your foresight, Allie, and I'm thankful that whatever happened down there didn't stick.
Cade spent his shift sleeping at Stark Industries, which I think is a fairly accurate representation of what we all wanted to do. Natalie stopped by the Boards yesterday to make some music, which I came down to listen to. Music catharsis is a powerful thing. Kitty was burning clothes from the dungeon on the beach, and Coulson stopped in to add his suit to the flames. They talked about why he was wearing a suit, and about how, being a mutant, Kitty tends to get kidnapped more than most.
... I wish I could deny that, but it's been true enough in my experience, as well.
Priestly was ordering people around at Cafe Luke's, where he was taking it easy and watching Paranormal on his laptop. Dinah stopped by from the clinic wearing a nurse's hat and they discussed how he should get out more, and Dinah's training. April stopped in as well, ordering a smoothie in any colour but red, and told him about her experience as a vampire before they decided that it would probably be worse to be turned into a zombie. That seems like a fair point, to me.
And, finally, Jack Priest was at the Devil's Nest looking for a distraction, where Sam Traynor stopped in looking for a drink. They wondered for a bit at how nobody really cracked down there, and they discussed some of the other things that have plagued the island over the years. Allie apologized to Jack for asking him to kill her, but he pointed out that he would've asked the same, had it been a full moon. And Jack was thankful that Derek wasn't dead, and asked about Stiles, who Derek apparently escaped from in the throes of a Real Housewives marathon by sneaking through a window.
I can't imagine anyone would blame him, I suppose.
And that's all the notes the squirrels have brought me about the various traumas of this island's survivors. Take care of yourselves, Fandomites. The worst is, at least, behind us now. At least until the next time.
