Fandom Radio [Friday, January 11, 2013]

Good morning, Fandom! Rilla Blythe here with a warm welcome for our newest arrivals on the island. I do hope that your first week of classes was without too many incidents.

And yes, we do have a pink pony teaching a course on friendship. She's quite lovely for a pony! In other class news, Dean Skywalker gave his usual "welcome to my class, don't make me angry" introductions in ethics and then asked the students if they'd rather kill one person or watch five die. There is something rather wrong with that man, don't you think? Miss Yeul stayed after to talk to him about where she came from. Mr. Oz held the first pop culture class and they introduced themselves and admitted to their favorite entertainment guilty pleasure. I love the channel that shows you how to cook, in case you were interested. In the library, Mr. Sabahnur was trying to discipline the children's books--I should stop in and get some for Jims--and then met the new librarian, who insisted on not being called Mr. Constantine.

*loooooooooooooooong pause*

I don't really know how to do that. Is he, perhaps, a doctor?

In the dormitories, Mr. Lightwood and his new sibling Miss Bishop were practicing archery at the shooting range. Not in the dormitories, in case any of you were concerned. Miss Bishop is much better than Mr. Lightwood at...arching? is that right?--but then Mr. Barton came in and showed them all how much they still had to learn. Miss Adams and Mr. Lightwood exchanged not-terribly-civil words, and then Miss Adams and Miss Bishop talked about bows--I like them in my hair, though I'm sure they mean something different here--and what to shoot.

*vehement chittering*

Not squirrels, please. Miss Adams told Mr. Barton about the mutual dislike between her and Mr. Lightwood, and Mr. Barton told her she could stay even if Mr. Lightwood wasn't thrilled with that. Miss Penderghast was sewing in her room when she was interrupted by a puppy, and then interrupted some more when Mr. Mancha paid a call. They talked about his newest sibling, Miss Thorne, and how strange Fandom still was. Miss Dean almost tripped over the puppy when she returned to the room, which led to a puppy-centric conversation.

Miss Kennish received a gift from home and spent time talking with her relatives on her computer, which was a much better use of her computer than Miss Berry, who was searching for information about Lindsay Lohan. Fortunately she was saved from that by Mr. Stark paying a call. Miss Berry knew him, but he didn't recognize her, and if that's on one of those Fandom bingo cards, everyone mark your place.

Mr. Rand was in the fifth floor common room with a deck of space cards and a television show about hustling people. I don't like the implications there at all. Miss Yorkes wanted to learn more about the game before she'd play and they talked about how exciting the island was while she watched Mr. Rand play. Miss Yorkes also met Miss di Glacia and they both declared they were past their pony phases. Of liking them or being them? Mr. Kirk and Mr. Rand talked about their roommates--Mr. Kirk is no great fan of Mr. Whittemore--and then Mr. Kirk talked to Miss Yorkes about how he didn't like Mr. Whittemore.

I like Mr. Whittemore just fine, in case anyone cares. Mr. Rand taught Miss di Glacia, and then Miss Thorne, his card game, and then Mr. Cade came in and wanted to know if Mr. Rand had made any money off of people yet. Miss Yorkes and Miss Thorne were both interested by this idea. I will remind you all that gambling is against the Bible and leave it to your conscience to decide.

Finally, in town, Mr. Murdoch discovered that Stark Industries was already decorated for Valentine's Day, and Miss Bennet and Mr. Starsmore held their first evening drama class, where their students mingled before picking a prop to act with. Miss Lyle and Miss di Glacia had a fight about sleeping on apples, Mr. Blum and Miss Bennet had a discussion about being a socialite versus being cool. Miss di Glacia checked on Mr. Starsmore, who told her he was going to the clinic right after class.

And that's everything you did on Thursday! Have a good weekend!
