Fandom Radio, Tuesday, October 23rd
Good morning, Fandom. I trust you've slept off your respective sugar crashes by now? I can only imagine how many lollies you've all left behind for the rest of us. I'm predicting a shortage of Halloween candy across the island, actually. Really, it's a good thing I've already bought mine.
This is Jonothon Starsmore, it's Tuesday morning, and by some miracle I've managed to sleep off you. I like children, but so help me I'm not equipped to take care of them for the long term, I think. And on that note, I'm going to start reading this morning's notes. With coffee. The squirrels actually let me grab that this morning.
Over at the School, denial was the name of the game in Philosophy 102, which refused to talk about the weekend and instead watched a film about a sabertooth tiger. How To Start a Business watched a documentary on advertising, and Two Lions discussed the power of sex appeal in getting what you want. In the library, William was being harassed by a book on dream interpretation, which seemed to be fond of his desk.
In the Dorms, aside from the vast amount of tummy aches that most of you were likely sleeping off, Topher could be found up on the roof, moping about and talking to Jim about how one might go about ending up a ghost. Victor was in his room putting together some music for Alec when Olive stopped by. They discussed the weekend, and about how old Victor actually is, which apparently made things a little awkward. Alec stopped by as well to pick up his music, and told Victor that he likes the sort that it's easy to hear people over. Alec, there is generally such a thing as a volume button on an mp3 player. They're quite innovative that way. And Natalie had her own personal thunderstorm cloud when Jace dropped in to talk with her, and they wound up talking about her reasons for that storm after a bit of encouragement from him.
And now, moving along to Town, where people seemed to be filled with the most regret, Cable was on the island and enjoying the quiet at the Wellspring Arms when Allie stopped by and asked if business was always that slow there. Considering they don't actually sell anything there, I'd assume so. Max lectured the staff at J,GoB about their inferior pie, which does seem to be a grave offence, doesn't it? Laurie was going through old tenant fines at the MHA when Jaina stopped by and they had a very serious discussion about Snuggies, and Alice stopped in looking for a room. At Café Luke's, they were having a special on food you hated as a kid while the staff expressed their disappointment that Priestly isn't as cute now as he was at five. Jake was dealing with a bit of leftover weekend weirdness at Caritas, where all of the drinking glasses were sippy cups, and at Devil's Nest, Jack was a little late showing up, and spent his shift immersed in paperwork and politics.
At the Arms Hotel, you'd think Professor Tomoe had been around and dealing with the kids all weekend with the way he dragged himself in and passed out face-first on his bed. Dinah, Momoko, Priestly, and Jaime all woke up in their room in the morning. Or, rather, Momoko snuggled Jaime and refused to wake up, which Dinah laughed at after going over the weekend's damage with Priestly. If toothpaste in the hair and sharpie tattoos is the worst of it, I'd say they were doing rather well. Better than Cara, who woke up, groaned, and buried her face in her pillow? The world might never know.
And I think the rest of my notes this morning are all about how poorly adults apparently take to regressing to their childhood, which actually amuses me to no end. Probably mostly because I didn't change this weekend, myself. At that unnerving mansion in town, people started to wake up after what I can only assume was a sleepover party that Malibu Stacy would be envious of, as hosted by Derek. Derek, for the record, is a less welcoming host the morning after, as babysitter Stiles learned when Derek attempted to throw him out. Jack had no luck talking him down from his mood, either, and so settled for talking to Stiles about how this weekend compared to other strangeness, and other babysitting jobs. Stiles and Mike had both apparently been the responsible adults this weekend, and so they bonded over their shared trauma at the hands of the little ones. Mike and Jack talked about getting used to Fandom weirdness, Mike pointed out to a growling Derek that there were worse strangers to be taken care of than himself and Stiles, and then Pinkie babbled at a somewhat baffle Mike about things that make him happy, particularly dancing.
Kitty arrived to the party with coffee, because she's a hero, that's why, and she talked about blackmail material with Stiles, because... power corrupts, I suppose? And because the thought of seeing photos of Derek as a little boy is hilarious. Mike was a little thrown by Kitty's usual method of entering the building, Derek snatched some coffee from her before being teased about his fluffy puppy, and Clint found out that he can't hide from Kitty, especially not when there was important telling him that he was adorable to be done. Jack got the full run-down of how Kitty knows everyone that was there, which is why she was the one playing coffee fairy yesterday morning.
Perhaps understandably, Stiles was a little thrown at the sight of Blind Seer at the party. Derek and Blysse talked about how being a kid is something that just kind of happens around here, Mike wanted to know if Blind Seer is tame, Kitty decided he was a pretty cute wolf, and Jack was happy to get a chance to meet the wolves again before it was time for them to leave.
In the corner of the house where sanity goes to die, Stiles attempted to wake up Pinkie, and was informed in happy pony sleep talk that he is definitely not an armadillo. Derek had better luck by throwing a pillow at her, and was disappointed that she was back to her perky self and talking about cutie marks and balloons, instead of the depressed little pony she was over the weekend. Kitty and Pinkie discussed how much fun the party was, and what a good host Derek is, and then she and Jack talked about how they'll probably never manage to get used to how weird they are to one another before talking about gryphons and manticores. Which is an absolutely normal conversation topic around here, isn't it?
Clint and Stiles discussed how it was that tiny Derek managed to be so much better at making friends, which I think had something to do with how Derek was less of an insufferable git in his childhood. Case in point, Derek needing to be told by Clint to be nice to Kitty, since she was the one on coffee fairy duty yesterday morning. Clint also talked to Mike about getting used to Fandom weird, and complained to Jack about how some people weren't changed over the weekend, while making introductions with them both.
It sounds like yesterday morning was an eventful one. After reading all of those notes, I think I'm about ready to nap, myself. Have a good day, Fandom. Try not to get any more toothpaste in your hair, hm?
