Fandom Radio, Tuesday, July 3rd

You want me to think and to string together words this early in the day, squirrels? Honestly? I can't grab, oh, another three, four... ten hours of sleep-

*Chittering*

- I don't care that I wasn't actually sleeping. It's the principle of the thing! Ugh. Right, right, we're on the air. Good morning, Fandom. This is Jonothon Starsmore with yesterday's news and a burning need for the strongest coffee the island can provide. At least one of these things I can take care of quickly enough.

Starting, of course, with notes from the School, now that classes are back on. Starting with the library, which was celebrating William's birthday with cupcakes. Scads of cupcakes. Happy belated birthday, William. If you have any cupcakes left, share the wealth, mate.

In Practical Philosophy, Ender told his lot that the class was more or less about conversation. And so, Sparkle and Anna had one about Canada Day. Art Games had the class break off into two teams in order to play Pictionary. I... honestly wasn't aware that there were more art games than that one, I'll admit. Everything else I can think of is essentially Pictionary all over again.

Study Hall was full of bananas, and Jamie Madrox, who is bananas, and Juliet, who followed her brother Jeremy-the-monkey in so that he could eat bananas. So You're In The Middle Of A War class got to hear about Zayne's life story. And about pacifism, which doesn't seem to be the sort of trait you want to suddenly adopt if you find yourself in the middle of a war, but what do I know? In any case, students got to introduce themselves and share their own experiences, and I can only assume that most of them aren't pacifists as well. That war might go poorly for them, otherwise.

Poetry 101's students got to hear Romeo leading in with a lecture on how poetry shapes the world before he made students introduce themselves in either limerick or haiku. I'd attempt the same, but the only limericks I know aren't suitable for the air. Maeby wanted to know if Fawn's limerick was some sort of goth thing, Frank let Evan know that he liked his poem before they went off on some tangent about small town life, and Cassie reported to Romeo to learn about her TA duties. I pity her if they involve screening her classmates' poetry for questionable limerick. I really do.

In the Dorms, there was a short string of transformations which make me feel less concerned that the Boards are cursed. First, Karolina turned into a doll, and then Jeremy woke up as a monkey. I really shouldn't be as ridiculously relieved by this as I actually am. Jack Carter returned to the island to find that his old roommate has moved out, and he seems to have inherited a new one in the meantime. Jack, of course, did the customary 'stare at your new roommate's freakish mutant face' boggling, before he and Evan talked about the usual subject around this time of year. About how weird Fandom High really is. And in the fourth floor common room, Victor had pizza and telenovelas when Topher came in. Victor explained that the television was doing strange things again, yes, this is normal, new people, and then they talked about turning into Soap Opera characters good lord why did you have to remind me?

Ahem.

In Town, Surreal had a large amount of nutcakes with her at the Magic Box, which she was to share. Fortunately, Cara stopped by, and they complained about the heat. It's this hot because America is wrong. I don't care if that isn't the scientific reason, that's my reason, and you'll never convince me otherwise. Ever. Alec also stopped in, and was surprised when he learned that the magic shop was, in fact, a magic shop. That dabbles in magic. You sweet, innocent babe. Fortunately, Surreal was there to set the record straight. Or just to confuse the poor lad. And, at Stark Idustries, Ender checked his e-mail and then fiddled about with a piece of technolog he found sitting around, and then Ben came in, and they talked about Ender's first class this semester, particularly how much trouble Sparkle might or might not turn out to be, before they turned talk around to methods of avoiding spontaneous combustion in this bloody heat.

My way involves going back home, where there is air-conditioning. And trust me, I know a thing or two about spontaneous combustion. Stay cool, Fandom. I mean that.
