WTFH, Tuesday, March 13th

Good morning, Fandom Island! Ronan Nolan here, with your weekly dose of Wizard Radio -- the news of yesterday, today!

I don't imagine yesterday was quite so amusing as this past weekend -- I'm sad I missed it. Ah, well, I'm sure there was lots of mortification going on yesterday, and now you get to hear all about it!

School!

Defending Yourself covered fortifications yesterday, with the students being responsible for protecting the bottom two floors of a dorm simulation, and in Philosophy 101, the students were thankful for the mindless entertainment offered by the week's movie. Food Tour of Fandom discussed comfort food -- which I'm sure most people needed after the weekend -- and then the students got to eat noodles in a Danger Shop marketplace, and in Basic Strategy, Tyrion taught the students how to play Blackjack.

Really, now, Tyrion. It's all about the Texas Hold 'Em, these days.

Kappa Kappa Gremlin met outside yesterday, where Warren had them playing baseball and eating pizza. Over at the newspaper meeting, Dave wanted non-crazy news -- good luck, on this island -- but got teased by Sam Puckett about... telepathic spy babies. What's sad is that I'm not sure whether that's a reference to this past weekend, or just something happening on the island. Could go either way, here. This week's newspaper was released, too, with lots of rants about telepaths.

Over in the library, William had more stuffed penguins, and in the office, Ida and the Head of Accounting fought over whether the Monster of Fandom is a cat or a menace.

It can't be both? I mean, a few of the cats I've met... Never trust a feline bard.

Dorms!

Natalie didn't want to get up -- like I said, lots of mortification today, I'm sure -- but did, when Tara came back with a fox who is Loki. They apologised for being bitchy at each other when they weren't themselves, and then, when Sam showed up, Natalie apologised to him, too -- and explained exactly what she'd done over the weekend to score some pot. Luke had a few bags of things to sort after a trip to New York over the weekend, and Wesley got a phone call about joining a new agency.

Not that I know what the old one was, but congrats on the job, Wesley!

Dany was hiding with her dragons, and Hanna spent the day on the phone; Juliet and Romeo woke up out on the grounds, having returned to normal after being garden gnomes this weekend, and in the salle, Cara was releasing frustrations upon practice dummies.

Town!

Ender was at Stark Industries, and got kisses from Ben today instead of lunch. Less nourishing, I'm sure, but probably more satisfying in many other ways. They left for the beach, with Ben telling Ender about Topher being rejected by Billy over the weekend.

Joan had water at the Devil's Nest in the afternoon, while Vincent had comfort food specials at Cafe Luke's. Annie was Humming at Goodvalor's, Surreal was mixing potions at the Magic Box, Karla left Mini-Morton to cover her shift at 'Dite's, and at the Perk, Billy was anti-social, at least until Topher showed up and awkwarded at him. Topher apologised, which prompted Billy to apologise, and then Topher asked Billy out again and -- being himself this time -- Billy said yes.

Over in the park, Anakin -- Skywalker, that is -- and his daughter set up with a cameraman for his Ethics students and their droid babies. There was also an opportunity to curse his name, and for passers-by to take pictures, like Jaye did. Rory checked up on Anakin and mentioned running into Jaina, who's not allowed to bring Eric over for dinner, and Sam Puckett and Stacey got their pictures taken with their droid babies.

JGoB had a bit of an influx when Kennedy made it back to the island, starting with tacklehugs and smartassery from Bobby Drake. Kennedy, of course, smartassed right back. Raven came by with tacklehugs but no smartassery, and Kennedy explained to her how she's a Slayer now, while Sookie showed up -- still in her work uniform, which appears to be from off-island, which means, wow, Portalocity's actually working right now? -- for more tacklehugs. Jaina didn't tacklehug Kennedy -- way to break the pattern, Jaina -- but they did talk about Jaina's Portalocity tweets from last fall.

Oh, those tweets. Best part of the whole thing.

Tara was a little stunned to see Kennedy, who actually tacklehugged Tara instead of the other way around.

... Why is there a nickel taped to the notes here? Oooh, it's kinda shiny.

Bod met up with Kate at the causeway; Kate showed up in tears because a friend of hers has passed away; Bod made sure she was okay, and then they took a portal elsewhere.

Over at Caritas, Jake was drinking ALL THE RUM -- it's even written in all caps in the notes, everyone, so it must be true. Jaina came by to check up on him and make sure that he was actually Jake today. Apparently he was a book character parody of himself for the weekend; Jaina 'reassured' him by talking about how people will start writing fanfiction. Zayne got a discount when he explained that he'd spent the weekend wearing nice suits and building dream worlds, and Jaina told him that she'd been herself all weekend before asking for a story from his time so she can add it to the archives in hers.

And I, of course, was at the clinic, listening to radio from the weekend and laughing at you all.

And that's it for today, everyone. Tune in next week for more from your host, Ronan Nolan!
