Fandom Radio: Thursday March 15
So, I heard about this cat that turned into a statue. Which sounds like the beginning of a joke but actually isn't. I hear our favourite talking cat is currently made of stone which is currently making me wonder if he'll talk extra fast for a few days to make up for all the snark he missed.
Other than that, hi, this is Aly. I'm glad to see you all listened to me and avoided burning the school down. Next time I'll be sure to mention floods as prohibited as well.
So be true to your school now Just like you would to your girl or guy
In case you had your head in a hole all day, the morning announcements told us that tiny penguins have invaded the school. There aren't any in the radio studio though. Apparently squirrels and penguins are mortal enemies. You'd never know it, but there were a few dance/fight numbers before all the penguins were driven out. I think I heard some Leonard Bernstein being played.
Mystical Artifacts had Aziraphale as a guest speaker today. They tallked about the Garden of Eden and if knowledge from the Fruit of Wisdom can be harmful. Which all sounds very nice and metaphorical butbeing the goddaughter of a goddess and all I'm guessing it's not. Film and Lit discussed - surprise! - movies today. Those of the animated and Disney variety in particular.
And Ares showed a movie as well today. Apparently the students were riveted by scenes of 'buff men in leather speedos.' Suddenly? I want to see the movie. Steerpike and Annette are not distracted from their game of poke the penguin. Between poking the penguin and the hot men in leather, this T'GAY class is well-named. Liz, who may or may not have been distracted, apologises to Ares for missing class.
Space Travel talks about FTL; guitars continues to make their own instrument; and Elliot, being depressed that the flood took away her notes, makes her students write 100 words on their favourite organ. Were they allowed to make organs up? Because that would have been fun.
Ms. Readman opened the library today where she was visited by Angela who quickly got on her good side by offering to shelve books. Daisy Adair has uninterrupted office hours, M sees Billy in her office, and Josh has Isabel and I interrupt his penguin watching. Oh yes, and the office is open. Shock.
The Newspaper Club met, got assignments, and chatted up Logan Cale. Chess Club meets as well to discuss club business, play chess - which is a surprise in a chess club to be sure, or talk to Aziraphale.
fun fun now that daddy took the t-bird away
In the Second Floor Common Room this morning, Alec feels a bit peckish and decides to eat boiled penguin for breakfast. Looking forward through my notes, I am guessing he did not expect the flailing that occurred following that decision. Alec? The squirrels here want me to let you know that they support your weetiny penguin eating lifestyle. Dawn is the first in a long long of people to have issues with the penguin-eating idea. She completely oppresses Alec by refusing to allow him to eat penguins or kitties. Jaye not only has issues with the ingestion of kitties and monkeys but also ends up making Alec a sandwich to tempt him away from his nasty penguin-eating ways. Neil tries a tactic other than 'don't eat the cute animals' by bribing Alec for the penguins safety. Good thinking, Neil.
Alec tells Layla about the circle of life and Katara about chicken nuggets. She then gives him instructions on how to cook penguin. Molly thinks Alec should restrain his predatory impulses to his own room or perhaps the cafeteria and D'anna learns that boiling water is more interesting with penguins in it. I want to comment. I just have no words.
Sokka informs Alec that the best way to eat penguin involves a saute. So frying pans and cooking knives come out until Rikku threatens to beat up Sokka and is threatened by Katara in turn. ...What kind of crazy games are you kids playing today?
Up in the Third Floor Common Room, Katara informs everyone that penguins are NOT FOR EATING before being warned by Neil that the penguins might be fellow students. Neil chats with Mel as well before Mel tells Katara about mint jelly induced dreams. Okay, dirty?
Katara continues her crusade by telling Tyler that penguins aren't for eating even though he wasn't thinking of it and discussing the cuteness of the penguins with Tori.
And then Sokka shows up either with a herd or being herded by penguins. He introduces Katara to his chinchilla - which better not be a euphemism - and gets his masculinity insulted for his troubles. Okay, the possibility of euphemism just rose tenfold. He also tells Mel about the penguins that are sleeping in his room. Now I'm worried that everything this kid says is a euphemism.
John Connor had penguins in his bathtub this morning. No word on what happened next. Liz had a nightmare while Buffy tried to be a nightmare by threatening Jack over River. Too bad the threatening turned into 'awww-ing' over penguins. Annette gets a birthday present of weetiny penguins and enjoys them with Cally. I don't think I mean the Alec-method of enjoying them. Mac brings Annette a birthday present and Henry picks her up for a date. Naomi and Teddy both get phone calls while Bridge bucks the trend and makes a phone call before continuing packing.
Teddy gives Cassie bad news from home, and I'm guessing it's not about wee penguins. Willow and English Peter have a lunch date with penguins; Sokka fights the penguins for chocolate and Hermione saves a penguin from her cat.
Seriously? I'm siding with the squirrels about these penguins already. Just saying the word over and over is making me find them less cute. Is there a thesaurus in here?
River has a Very Serious Talk with these flightless birds about bothering her monster while Chad and Irulan watch the artistic stylings of the tuxedo-wearing creatures. Z tries to tell Luke that she's leaving for the weekend but a very small avian interrupts them by barfing on Artoo. Lovely. Teddy has black and white birds with flippers base jumping in his room. Dick and Jim talk about a very, very boring creature named Duncan.
Oh thank the Gods, there aren't any strangely small non-mammals in this set of notes. River and Parker gossip about Jack before Parker makes her way to Isabel's room with chocolate. He-Whose-Ears-Should-Be-Burning learns that Sam-the-Girl has gotten a job offer from MacGyver. John admires Aeryn's pedicure which are words I never thought I'd say together. Sakurazaki's meditation is ruined by John Connor, and the notes make no indication of how she chose to handle that interruption. If they did, I wouldn't mention it because some things are sacred.
In the Fifth Floor Common Room, Steerpike tries to teach birds how to fly by juggling them. Annette comes by and they argue about kissing, penguins, and whether or not Annette gives orders. I'm sure it was all terribly fascinating. Annette's apparently gotten over the argument because she and a ragtag group of waddling animals can be seen handing out cupcakes in the hallway.
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
Everyone and their mother - not literally - decided to go to the spa today. But there don't seem to be any avians present so I don't mind. Jack starts off by flirting with the receptionist. The entire island is shocked. Sam-the-Girl - I think, the notes are unclear - and Xander are snarky about their presence and Aeryn is just confused. I...am not laughing. Really. Zero continues the trend by totally not wanting to be there. People get their hair done. Jack, Sam, Izzy, Zero, and Parker spend time in the pools before Parker harrasses Xander and Aeryn about fingernail polish. Brave woman, Parker. Sam tries to exfoliate in a mud bath and is...surprise...bothered by Parker.
John and Nadia spend the day at Galactica Point watching birds surf. ...with little surfboards? Really? Cafe Fina, the post office, Sparky, Empire, Turtle and Canary, and the bookstore are all overrun by flightless fiends. Marie's at the Photo Hut and has apparently escaped the avian menace. No one's at Hitsuzen, and the girls at the Sin are wearing seashell bras. ...doesn't that chafe?
Caritas and the Devil's Nest were both quiet tonight. Bel and Phoebe hung out at the former, and Neil cleaned like a maniac at the latter. Ami's still in the clinic, but other than that, it went unvisited.
That's all I have for you tonight. You all keep having fun with the tiny birds. No, I don't have any idea why they're here. It's probably part of that homosexual flightless waterfowl agenda we keep hearing so much about.
Night!
