Fandom Radio, 3/11/07 (now with 100% more Spanish!)

//Helloooooo there Fandom! This is Nadia Santos on WTFH once again, just like I am every single week.

//Yep, I'm broadcasting in Spanish, tonight. So, like, four of you can understand me. Hi, El Professor, Chad, Annette, Carmela. Everyone else? Consider this your very special language lesson for the week. Or call me horrible names. Either way.

//School! Where you could have been learning Spanish! But you didn't. Good job.

//It's Sunday, and that still means no school. Yay!

//Dorms! Where you could be having "language lessons", which are fun, but often don't actually involve learning actual spoken languages.

//Looks like our very own Mean Girl found herself an inflatable life raft down by the pool this afternoon. Good initiative, Jaye. Keep that up.

//Neil made lots of friends in the third floor common room today by making breakfast. Jude showed up to brag about being a late riser, and proved himself to be just as smart as Neil only in a more selfish way. After all, he told Tori she didn't even have to pay him back. Neil is the best person ever. Turtle came for the food and stayed for the conversation with Tori, and I came by and told Neil that he was a wonderful person. Which is totally true. He's a good cook, too. And then Annette and I talked about . . . monkeys. Cute little swinging monkeys.

//They wear pants.

//Oh, and Annette and Tori talked flooding.

//This evening in the fifth floor common room, Bel watched TV. And didn't have sex, thank god. There's only so much random horniness a girl can take. Mac joined him for snarky purposes, Cally and Mac reunited and were snuggly and I didn't feel a damned thing, again with the thanking of god, and Bel filled me in on, oh, why I felt like I got shot twice in the chest on Friday. Good information to get, let me tell you. Cally yelled at Bel for dying . . . as you do. . . . I caught Cally up on what she'd missed in Fandom. And yes, there were demonic tongues. And yes, my hand got cut off, but Aziraphale put it back on, so it's all okay now, and Billy told Bel he was going to make him snickerdoodles. I have it on good authority that those are not, in fact, made of people.

//Apparently, Walter got a call from my cat last night. That might explain the moody kitty and the dead phone that I found this morning. Jack and Parker talked about him hooking up with River. I guess he likes 'em dangerous. It says here that "Willow computer smurfed". Wait, no, surfed. That makes a lot more sense. Sakura and Ranma had a fight, and Ranma got knocked ou--oooooooo . . . .

. . .

//Bel, you're a total bastard, I swear. . . . ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh--kay! Moving--Moving on! Ranma woke up and--ohholymotherofgodandallofherblessedattendingsaints!--Jack and River "got to know each other a little better"//

. . .

*in English:* Okay, that's it.

*sounds of phone beeping* Pick up, you bastard . . . Bel! Whatever the hell you're doing, cut it out! I'm trying to do a radio broadcast here!

*in Spanish:* //I swear, if he does that again? I'm going to go jump into the flood. See how he likes it then. Sam and Dean fought over Alec. I swear, everyone in school spent the day either fighting or *expletive deleted*. It's not fair. Parker gave Isabel back her kitten. See? That's a nice thing to do for someone that doesn't get you all--dammit, he didn't stop! Gyah! Cedric brought Isabel some pastries and Sam, Aeryn, and Bridge came by as well. Pippi and Pip "caught fish", and John told Aeryn about fighting a merperson. Katara is back! Apparently she went somewhere. She got visited by Carmela, Molly, Tori, and Sokka. Rory and Luke talked about flying fish, and then Rory got a phone call.

//Town! Where maybe the mer-people speak Spanish. Weirder things have happened.

// Aziraphale woke up ready for a fight, but Dr. Wilson got him back into bed instead. That might be TMI. Just sayin'.

//The Post Office had a package for Poseidon.

. . .

//I don't know why, but that name makes me shudder. Anyway, apparently the guy tried to raise a kraken, which I'm not sure what is, but it sounds bad. Barbossa went looking for treasure. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's probably a euphemism. He was joined by Rosette, who is doing a terrible job of pretending to be a nun, let me tell you, and they were both attacked by pirates. Wow.

//A bunch of mer-people picked a fight by flinging fish at the school. Annette fought back by flinging glitter, but there are no reports of Mer!Kissy, so I guess it didn't work. Tori used her powers--Tori has powers?--and John Crichton used a wallet and a shoe. I would love to know how that worked. I mean, who throws a shoe? Really, now. . . . Jaye took pictures, and I hope she's going to share. Luke got into a swordfish fight, Billy got into a Big Mouth Bass fight, Naomi took the Blair route and told the mer-folk they weren't being nice, and Pippi taunted them. Probably said their fathers smelled like elderberries or something. Mr. Crazygonuts got in on the mer-fight as well, Rory fought with books and coffee, and Hermione got sweet, sweet vengeance for interrupted study time by casting spells. Parker sacrificed shoes to make them stop. What, in some kind of ritual?

//Jaye in her raft got even more pictures around town, and then a bunch of dolphins put on a show for her. Rose joined in on the boating fun. Moist delivered--wait, his name is Moist? Gyuh. That's one evil mother, there. Anyway, he delivered a package to Poseidon *pause for shuddering*, and he left. Yay! And Cally got dropped off on the roof of the apartments. Double yay!

//Doogie floated into the clinic for the morning shift and Stark asked a merperson for help getting there for the evening one. Caritas tonight was on GOB's boat . . . dirty . . . and Shuichi was all alone at the Devil's Nest.

//And that's it for the news tonight, folks. I'm going to go drench myself in cold water and head back to the dorms. Take that, Belthazor, you *expletive deleted* *expletive deleted*. And then I'm going to go find Walter. Because good lord, Bel's like some kind of machine, I swear. Good night everybody!//

Christian understood Spanish perfectly well. "Some kind of machine, my ass," he snorted. "Kid's got nothing on me."

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Alec snorted as the broadcast ended. "Hope no one actually wanted to know what happened today," he said dryly. "Though I'm sure a lot more than four people know Spanish."
multiplez: (Are you for real?)

Z threw a sock at the radio. "//More than four of us know Spanish!//"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Walter heard his name a couple of times, particularly right before the signoff, and wondered just what in hell was going on, as her broadcast had included little in the way of vocabulary she'd taught him during language lessons.

[identity profile] 1ordinarygirl.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Buffy stared at the radio. The only thing she'd understood were the names and the sign off. "...Buh?"
the_merriest: (please stop talking now)

[personal profile] the_merriest 2007-03-12 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Rikku gave up and tossed a spanner at the radio set. "Hey, no fair! If I have to speak English, then you should too!"
dark_slippy_thing: (Woe)

Valentine never was the patient sort. Broadcasts entirely done in a language he wasn't aware he had to learn in order to know what went on during the course of the day?
...
If anyone was underneath the window of room 206 about halfway through the broadcast, they might want to watch out for a falling radio.
can_be_more: (b&w!aeryn)

Aeryn's probably one of three people in Fandom who would hear that and not realize there was anything different about the broadcast, since she hears everything in Sebacean anyway.

She doesn't want to know about the moaning, though.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Parker speaks very good Spanish. Parker also know what had been going on with Anders earlier this week, and the 'flashes' he was picking up from Bel.

Parker is now dying of giggle, thanks.

Naomi could not speak Spanish but she did have a universal translator on her computer so she used that to translate the podcast. She kept laughing through out the report.

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hamlet frowned at the radio. As someone who spoke Danish as his mother tongue, he'd put in a lot of effort over the years to pick up fluent English as a second language, but still didn't know more than a handful of Spanish words. He turned the broadcast off partway through. What good to him were a bunch of names in the middle of gibberish?

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
GOB was left scratching his head at the broadcast. The only word he understood was "hermano," even though she pronounced it all funny as "hermanoee" or something.

The sea levels seemed to be back to normal, he was just curious what his brother Michael had to do with it.

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Willow frowned when she heard the radio report. Spanish was pretty, but unfortunately she didn't understand it.

She decided to get the notes from the squirrels to see if she could write up a translation.

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Dawn was giggling throughout the broadcast, having understood more than enough to guess at the vocabulary she didn't understand.

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
John actually caught this one (for once) and thought he should send Nadia some chocolates, since she was completely out of it. And he still hadn't seen Bel in person...

[identity profile] water-wonder.livejournal.com 2007-03-12 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Tori managed to understand a little bit of the broadcast, especially the part about her powers and decided she'd have to explain that one to Nadia later.
