Fandom Radio, Saturday, October 21, 2006

Hello to all Fandom residents and students, as well as visiting parents, family members, friends, and/or beings who may have a relation to you that the English language hasn't caught up with yet. This is Willow Rosenberg, bringing you the latest news!

To explain for the visitors who might not know, during the day teams of sharp-eyed squirrels roam the halls and highways of Fandom and take notes on what they see. The staff here at Fandom Radio then sorts through all the pages that say "Leaf, leaf, acorn, tree with a nice hole in it that looks like it's close to a good school district, leaf, leaf, leaf." and finds the details that relate to the residents of Fandom, which are then reported on by folks like me.

And for those of you who are visiting and who really need an explanation because maybe you come from a time before there was communication like this. Um... I guess the easiest way to put it is that the talking box is not evil. At least not so far as we know.

There. That's better. On to the news!

School: Where Every Student Here Is Doing Wonderfully. Except Seely Booth Who Should Be Kicked More, Ideally In The Detention We Didn't Have Today.

School was - oh man, I'm almost getting dizzy with joy here - busy this Saturday! Pardon me. I need a moment.

Aaannnnd I'm back. Okay, so there were office hours to the nth degree today. V, Logan, Lorne, the very understanding Mary Poppins, Janice Covington, The Doctor - and, yes, we do call him "The" Doctor even though there's a few other teachers around here who sport PhDs. It's a courtesy thing and we were at Fandom are respectful and welcoming like that. Visitors, take note.

Still more office hours with Mr. Lyman, Lord Vader, El - who's another "The" and again just file that under the politeness thing - Jesse Custer, Mr. Dean and Sam's Daddy, Thursday Next, Dr. Wilson, Aziraphale, Alianne, Dr. Reid, Lorelai Gilmore, and Abby Sciuto.

I'd tell you who stopped by during those office hours and what they talked about, but there's the teacher/visitor confidentiality clause to consider. Also? If I have to sit at home nursing an ulcer as I wonder if I'm going to be grounded because I got an A minus on a test, you guys can do that too. It's part of the fun of Parent/Teacher conferences. Enjoy the giddy rush when you know everything's okay. It's a natural high.

Um... not that anyone here would try to find any other kinds of highs. There's absolutely no underage drinking either.

Anyway, as though all that gripping! Exciting! Teachers-With-Office-Hours Action! wasn't enough? We've got more office hours! This time for places, like the library, the science lab, and the observatory. We also go one-up on our school's org charts and bask in the joy of the office hours of Vice Principal Pierce and Principal Washburn, either of whom may or may not have spoken with your parents. That acidic taste in your mouth right now? Would be stress. Get used to it because learning to ride through it will help you through finals.

But that's not all! Because there was more school activity and seriously we can get the school this open on a Saturday and yet there isn't one single class being offered? What's up with that?

Well, there was an announced tour. In the midst of following The Tick as he walked backwards and maybe wore a jaunty hat so people could recognize him as a tour guide, Parker and Sydney observe the observatory, at which point the observatory trembled with glee at self-actualization. Parker then introduces Jack to Sydney and Jack apparently introduces himself to the telescope. The squirrels have added a note here that says "Dirty? No, really, dirty? It's Jack, we have no idea."

Over in the lobby Zuko and his sister put the "deadly" in "Deadly sibling rivalry" and Zuko gets hauled off to the principal's office. Marie asks Zuko's sister what's going on, and the squirrels are indicating to me that I'm not going to like where these notes are going. Oh dear.

In other news, Blair's a busy boy as he gets an invite to join Phoebe's grandmother for breakfast. I assume with other people there otherwise Phoebe's grandma is really rocking that Demi Moore vibe and for that I salute her. Blair also meets Missouri and talks about hugging John Winchester and whether or not Missouri is really tired of people making jokes about compromises whenever they hear her name. Blair also meets Evie's brother Jonathan - hi, Evie's brother! And Bel and River and Blair talk about something that the squirrels have apparently termed "Swinging" with a note that "We didn't know Blair had it in him, but good on ya, buddy." I... have no idea why playing on swings is such a brave act, but if it's a huge step for the three of you then I support your plans 100%.

Finally, while on the tour Shawn introduces Summer to his ex-girlfriend Nikki, and that goes about as swimmingly as you'd expect.

Dorms: Where Absolutely Nobody - And I Mean Nobody - Has Ever Spent The Night With Anyone's Older Brother.

This morning in the Fourth Floor Common Room Jude made pancakebobs, which were very yummy and I highly recommend them. I was there and Jude and I discussed other forms of pancakes on sticks, Billy and I got caught up on issues of dragons and nudity, and Buffy who is visiting... um... Visiting Buffy? Buffy who's here for Dawn? Older Buffy? The Buffining? Screw it - Buffy 2.0 and I talk about boys and why Seely Booth is just not kicked in the crotch often enough to even out the karma of the universe. Buffy 2.0 also asks if Jude's got a Sunnydale twin, and then Buffy 2.0 tells Buffy 1.0 that dating guys with hair product addiction makes you lose your boobs.

Billy boggles at all the bodacious Buffydom and Jude gives Billy pancakebabs, possibly to help Billy with his "joke problems." The squirrels have added a note here to assure Billy that it happens to every comedian, and just wait 20 minutes before trying to reach the punchline again.

Down in the basement we find Jaye and Alec riding a sugar high - um, metaphorically speaking, parents! - and playing Operation. Oo! I love Operation. It's almost like when Xander and I played Doctor when we were kids. Though? Admittedly? I enjoyed playing Doctor more.

Buffy 1.0 shows her mom the basement - hi, Ms... woman who hasn't met me yet. Um. AHEM. Sorry, I wasn't saying anything, just clearing my throat. Anyway, Rory brings Alec and Jaye some hair of the pixie stick dog, they are joined by Lane as well as Jaye's brother who may or may not have tormented Jaye by giving her the dreaded Rear Admiral.

Zinging our way around the dorms, Peter Parker stops by Isabel's room in a purely platonic manner. Mac and Cally have a bit of awkward but never fear because Cally decides to make it up to Mac - go Cally! Jack and Cedric are so cute with tea it's like if puppies and kittens combined the awesome power of their adorableness into one being that for now I am calling a pupten because kitpies sound like a food item.

Pippi makes breakfast for herself, a pirate, and Pip. Lana multi-tasks by being thoughtful and snuggly with Jim. And if any of Lana's visitors are listening I am sure that Lana and Jim's feet were on the floor the whole time.

Kira meets Parker, who unlike Anders - hi, cooking study buddy! - isn't hiding. Missouri finds Dean and possibly tells him if we're supposed to be saying it "Missour-EE" or Missour-UH." Luke chills in his room, which the squirrels assure me is not a euphamism for anything. John's mother isn't feeling well - oh, I'm sorry to hear that, John! I'll think good thoughts. Hamlet doesn't feel so good either, and I ask English Peter if possibly anorexic lions are allergic to chocolate, and I'm mentioning that on radio because, darn it, I still wanna know the answer even if it doesn't apply anymore!

Town: Where Nothing But Legal and Family-Friendly Activities Occur

One thing that wasn't happening today was any dancing at Caritas which is Latin for "Our boss is a stick in the mud." Jack's there, though, and sings a song for a certain young wizard, wink wink nudge nudge. Oh - was I supposed to be saying that last bit or doing it? I'm not going to nudge a squirrel, you guys are wee. I could accidentally kill you. Anyway, Jack discusses drink names - like, I'm sure, Shirley Temples, and says hi to Isabel.

Mrs. Kim intimidates Greg - think we could get her to intimidate Mr. GOB into putting in a dance floor? Dean Winchester and Buffy 2.0 talk about Fandom. Greg meets Kira and finds out... a detail about Conner that I don't know if I should repeat on the radio, so here's me lip-zipping. Cruger is surprised to see Kira and - shyeah, who wouldn't be? These are new people, right?

Greg meets Buffy 2.0 and talks about Buffy 1.0. Billy is confused about which Buffy he's talking to. I'd point out the obvious difference but I think both Buffys would appreciate it if I didn't encourage people to stare in that direction. Kira meets Buffy 2.0, Aeryn tells Buffy 2.0 all about Buffy 1.0's cabin adventures. Samantha wins a game of stump the bartender. Luckily she didn't try that with the band because - well, let's just say you don't want to know what their stumps look like.

Blair tells Greg his mother wants him to leave Fandom High. Wait - what? Noo! Blair stays here! I will get very pouty otherwise! River agrees with me. Smart girl. Billy talks to Blair about it, and Blair hates Clark on principle. I guess Clark had something to do with Blair's leaving? Either that or Clark frowned at a tree.

Aeryn chats with Greg and Rory. Bridge hides from his visitors which I don't mind telling you since they found him. Peter Parker meets Isabel's brother and chats with Dirk and Nikki. Ron gets a drink and if this is the Ron I'm thinking of leave poor Jude alone! He is a wonderful student and excellent pancake maker.

Rory and Lane do that thing where you think that if you can't see somebody they can't see you but Mrs. Kim proves them wrong. Brisco asks Bel why he's hurt - more on this in a bit. Blair tells Bel they need to talk, and Isabel checks on Bel as well. No rhyme intended. Unfortunately neither was Bel's loose lips sinking ships, and now Max is angry at Isabel.

Around town the park saw some action as Phoebe talks to Prue and The Marquis de Cabaras meets Aziraphale. See, there's another "The" but it makes sense because how many Marqius de Cabaras do we know? Not too many.

Cafe Fina is open, as is Sparky Repairs and All and Sundries. Luke's sees Blair and his parent issues, as well as Joxer and Kaylee meeting Mal.

Jay and Silent Bob loiter and do no illegal activities whatsoever. In fact, I believe they were waiting to read to the blind. Which... is not entirely inappropriate, when you come to think of it. Mrs. Kim gives them a spanking, not dirty, and Nikki is not impressed. By Jay and Silent Bob that is. We're all impressed by Mrs. Kim.

Over at the Perk, Lavender helps Sandry order. Buffy 2.0 makes a phone call and, I hope, tries the mocha. The twins do not want Tamaki around coffee, and considering the quality of coffee at the Perk this seems like cruel and unusual punishment. And Nikki meets up with Shawn.

Phoebe has dinner at Ching Tai with Prue and Grams "I shall call him Ashton" Halliwell. Also there, but separately, are Walter and Nadia who eat with Arthur and possibly ask him if falling in love really is the best that you can do when you get caught between the moon and New York City.

Speaking of people in similar places but not together, Billy and Duke talk at the beach, as do Setsuna and Eishun.

Elsewhere around town, Phoebe confronts somebody at the hotel. Not part of this confrontation, I assume, is Graham who cooks brunch for various people including Marcella, Parker, Nadia, and, quote, "Sydney-who-be-not-related-to-Principal-Bristow."

The Doctor and Nadia have coffee together - I'll assume Nadia cut down on the caffiene at Graham's otherwise she must be wired by now. Dan Dorian and Abby have... um. "Fun" together. And my notes here say I should specify that I'm making air quotes because this is an audio medium and you can't actually see me. So, with the air quotes, there was "fun" which I'm sure they "enjoyed" and I'm "very happy" for "Abby" because "I like her as a teacher" though I hasten to add "not in the way that Dan apparently does" with an additional "go you."

Also speaking of "fun" Blair, um, walks in on Lex and Naomi having some. There's... there's just not enough therapy in the world. For me I mean. Even worse for Blair quite frankly.

Okay, and then with the Clinic it's quiet in the morning but not so much at night because - oh God. Remember Zuko's family frolics? Well, after the whole principal's office shebang, Bel goes to follow and he and Zuko go to rescue Marie and there's a huge and awesome fight and Zuko and Marie are hurt and YOU DO NOT MESS WITH MY ROOMMATE, GIRLY! I DON'T CARE WHOSE SISTER YOU ARE!!!!

Oh man. I gotta get to the clinic. That's all the news for tonight, Fandom! See ya!
