Fandom Radio, Thursday, January 12

Good morning, Fandom. This is Chloe Sullivan; I've got a stack of notes here detailing the various ways we all embarrassed ourselves yesterday, so let's just rip the Band-Aid off and get right to it, shall we?

Over at the school, the students in Practical Mythology were treated to a song from Hercules to introduce all the gods. Having met him, I'm kind of sorry I missed that, so I hope someone got it recorded while you were all staring at the poor guy. Percy and Wesley agreed that Hercules wasn't quite what they expected him to be, and Loki and Luke ended up singing to each other while trying to figure out how to get their teacher onto YouTube. Thankfully, Hercules was able to stop singing long enough to take questions about the gods.

In What Was the School Board Thinking...? the students were introduced to the idea of evil twins, which included Jamie freaking Jeff out by imitating his mother. Seriously, who is letting him and Jaye teach? Uh, no offense Jaye, thank you for the non-paying job! The students stared at the insanity, which I think is going to be a theme for the day, and then everyone had to face off against their mustachioed evil twins, like you do.

Mad Kings and Queens class was song-free as Ghanima talked about Caligula, and the students had to discuss if Caligula was crazy, sick, or a victim. Cindy, unfortunately, didn't get off so easily, singing the Is A Cigar Just a Cigar? lecture about allusion and symbolism. But, she turned that right around to have the students discuss symbolism in songs. See, sometimes the madness of this place can be educational!

In the library, poor Dorothy was stuck singing about rainbows, but Pinkie Pie was stuck singing continuously in her office, so I think Dorothy was the winner there.

The dorms don't seem to have been a safe place to escape the singing either. Jack sang a song about his reflection not showing his true self, or something like that, and Dolf was singing in...well, the squirrels say gibberish, but I'm not so sure about that. Ender spent the better part of his morning singing love songs with Ben while they made out to try to keep their mouths occupied, awwww. Peter came by, despite Ender having told him to stay away, and they ended up singing awkwardly at each other, and Topher came by to return Ender's screwdriver, and got more of a glimpse into Ender's head than he needed. Poor Ender.

Hanna got a little country after receiving a text message, and Lex ended up singing about how he doesn't care about his hair. Wait, Lex? Oh, this place, I swear to god... Ahem. Tony's musical number ended up being a little techno, maybe because he was working on his computer, and when Topher came by to check on him, Tony ended up singing a song of friendship-y support to him. That sounds less awkward than some of these, at least?

Peter tried to hide in his room after escaping his duet with Ender, but Topher and Kenzi were having none of that, and there were some vaguely insulting lyrics thrown around before they all ended up singing about taking over the world? Possibly? That sounds wonderful, really. Jake was singing excitedly about cheese, which is just not right, but thankfully, he switched to a schmoopier tune when Caroline came by.

Miley was jumping on her bed and singing when Dave came in tap dancing, and Elphaba was reading in blissful non-musical silence when Karla came to see her, and ended up singing to Elphaba about how she's going to make her popular before Elphaba has to go home. That's...nice? I think I've lost the ability to tell at this point.

Sam-who's-a-girl was in the first floor rec room when the power of freestyling came over her, so when Kenzi tried to warn her about the latest crazy, it was already too late. Freddie did the smart thing and recorded Sam's freestyling, and they ended up serenading each other. Awwww.

It looks like things in town were crazy too--Bobby was already humming when he met Angelica on the beach for lunch, and Jono ended up singing a creepy and depressing duet with himself until Karla came in and took care of him. Karla also had a really bad dream, as if things weren't weird enough, but Warren calmed her down with lovey-dovey singing. No one should ever be ashamed of breaking out the sappy stuff on days like this.

Jack ended up with a little rock and roll in his evening at the park, and Deadpool, Cable, and Jan had an evening of Disney ballads which, okay, might actually be too far down the sappy scale if we're being honest. K and the mail crew were singing syllables at each other at the post office, Quinn's singing was accompanied by a dancing housekeeping staff at the Arms Hotel, and William was singing about science at Stark Industries, which sounds like it was at least a little fitting.

Kate was in a brooding mood at The Perk, especially after she ended up singing, but she got kisses from Bod as well as a musical visit from Jack where she learned about how he's doing, so maybe it all balanced out. Jaina and Anakin--the non-teacher one--talked about all the people Anakin knows who have been to Fandom, and how to deal with a gremlin bite, since Skywalkers are prone to those things.

Lion-o hid in the fridge at Cafe Luke's so no one would be able to hear him singing, Trick was also being subjected to Disney at Portalocity, and I was recording the singing of the nurses like a good clinic employee. On the warehouse district rooftops, someone called the Red Hood was running around and singing a song to Ratman. Raven was singing in the park's playground when Jack overheard her, and he complimented her on her voice and they talked about the situation he'd left behind at home.

Nathan ended up singing a tribute to himself at Caritas, and when Quinn came by for something to drink, they talked about what kind of embarrassing singing is acceptable when these things happen. And, apparently, Sunshine was having bad day, and ended up singing off the coast of the island.

Yeah, if that's not a good place to end this report, I don't know what is. I hope you have a music-free day, everyone.
