Fandom Radio, Saturday, May 21st
Good morning, everyone. You're listening to WTFH, Fandom's Pirate Radio. Tryout season is almost over, so don't forget to vote once the poll is up and...
Okay, I can't stick to the script I wrote. I heard people talk about the squirrels with the notes, but this is really... Oh, hey, they're also pushy about reading the notes. That's... charming. Thanks, squirrels. Okay, I'm just going to start reading.
SCHOOL: Where we learn
Life's a Circus talked about clowns and car repair with a cameo appearance by The Joker, which I assume is a reference to Steve Miller Band. The While most of the students listened to the lecture, Sam Puckett and Freddie reminisced about a clown who'd had an aneurysm and died. Well... that's nice. When the students had to team up to change a tire, Jack McCallister taught Sam how to do that while they talked about getting settled into Fandom. Jocelyn and Mercy also paired up, and this time it was Mercy who actually knew what to do. And Damian and Stephanie teamed up, but they mostly just talked about the fact that Damian knows a different version of her. Sure they did, squirrels. Fine, I'll keep reading. Mr Grayson was around after class, and Damian had some harsh words for him about clowns.
The topic of Computers 101 was websites that pulled you in and kept making you read them. Mr Winchester gave his students a challenge: he gave them a bunch of links and dared them to navigate away from them. After all that was done, they talked about the sites.
Over in Advanced Astrophysics (And Arts & Crafts) talked about glitter art and dark matter, both of which are mysterious. While everyone was making their glitter art, Scully and Jim ended up making a glittery mess of themselves. Jim also offered to take her for a ride on his solar surfer sometime.
In the library, Wesley was working on a nine-page long list. My notes don't say what the list was about, but it was probably something he felt very strongly about.
And in their respective offices, Mr Stark and Mr Anders did cupcake research for their class.
DORM: Where most of us live
Jack McCallister spent his lunch on the deck with a soda and a nice view. Bod came by and after some brief catching up, they talked about traveling and Kate's third floor party, which we'll talk about later. Jack's brother Bobby stopped by to tell Jack about how he's a TA for Mr Winchester, who insists that Bobby call him Sam, who I hope doesn't have an issue with me calling him Mr Winchester earlier.
Sam Puckett and Freddie were on the roof last night to take place in a web show. They talked to their friend Carly about the island moving and a cupcake class, where a discussion about meat in cupcakes was brought up again. ... Really? Why would anyone do that?
Let's move on quickly from that thought.
TOWN: Where Kate tells us to party
Hope polished the Squishy machine at Turtle and Canary, which didn't sit too well with Apu. Seifer spent his first day working at Groovy Tunes by listening to Zeppelin and researching bands. Harper swapped out cold weather wear for vintage swimsuits at Things Reborn. Mary was on the phone at the Arms. And Jessica played with a vampire doll website during her shift at Caritas, which I guess fits well with Mr Winchester's class today. It's a very thematic day.
Bod was working at Luke's and he was perfectly on time. *displeased chittering*
What, I don't want him to get in trouble.
*chittering*
Well then maybe you should read the news.... Oh Lord, I just argued with a squirrel. And I think I won.
Anyway, Ariel stopped into Luke's to tell Bod about her experiences... with depp-frying a Cheeto? I really don't know what's wrong with this town's food preferences. Anyway, they talked about Kate's party and the fact that Bod and Kate are dating.
And at Wellspring Arms, Cable put up a help wanted sign. Alex Aaron inquired about it, but mostly he was confused by the fact that the weapons store had a meditation center.
Frankly, I'm not as concerned about the meditation center part of the store.
And as I mentioned before, there was a big party on the beach thrown by Kate Gregson in honor of the third floor that I proudly represent here on WTFH Radio.
It was pretty packed with everyone mingling, or, in some cases, standing around and not knowing what to do at the first high school party they'd ever been invited to. Or so I'd guess.
Kate met up with Ariel and both were glad that the island was someplace warm. And then Ariel offered to make Kate a seashell bra. The squirrels suggest that it would be uncomfortable and, aesthetics aside, I can see where they're coming from. Peter complimented Kate on a great party, and they discussed the fact that the third floor is the only floor to throw parties such as this. Also, Kate knew Peter's sister. Luke went a slightly different direction at first, complimenting Kate's looks, and then suggesting that the people of Alexandria should have been invited, apparently while they were working out naked. That would have been a very different party....
Alexander and Scully talked about the people who left or will be leaving after graduation a few weeks ago, but they moved onto a happier topic when they talked about a trebuchet. ... Do we actually have a trebuchet around here? Is it for warding off the invaders I keep hearing about?
Ariel was happy to great Peter, but Peter was happy to freak out Butters by telling him that his parents could find out that he was at a party with alcohol. Come on, that's not nice. Kate told Chuck that she was happy the party was a success before they discussed how well they would adapt to Ancient Egypt if they actually lived there. Here. Whichever. The answer: not well at all.
Chuck expressed surprise to Ariel that she hadn't set up a beach party already, but it turns out she was too busy exploring Ancient Egypt. Jocelyn talked to Simon about classes and how zombies haven't entered into her traditional education until now, while Marshall and Jocelyn agreed to run together for the cardio portion of that class. He also told her about dark matter.
And the two students named Sam talked mostly about food with him being a vegetarian and her being in danger of meat poisoning, which the squirrels seem to be snickering about. They even call it out in the notes. Well, now I know that squirrels have filthy minds. That's something I didn't know before.
Jocelyn talked to Sam L. about the water temperature, her not turning rancid, and him being an angel.... I didn't think they'd top the rancid thing, but they did. Kate and Caroline talked about feelings and Nathan's funeral and people apparently got angry and Caroline turned into a vampire.
Hold on, I just need to check something. Huh. Twenty-four squares on the bingo card and not one of them are about me being on the radio and reporting on someone being a vampire. I can't believe this thing apparently wasn't comprehensive enough.
Sov was sunburned, so Scully offered sunscreen before they talked about how Sov is from an ice planet.
Also not on the bingo card.
Sam L and Annie talked about not being the party types, staying in school, and her refusal to let him win Anakin's class. Jeremy checked in to see if Annie was from the third floor and whether or not people from other floors were okay to come by. They were, for the record. Butters was concerned about the alcohol being around, but Annie comforted him by saying that they didn't need alcohol to have fun. And when Bobby Drake came by, Kate was very happy to greet him. Possibly because she disagreed with Annie's stance on drinking, apparently.
Over by the food and drinks, Bod figured out Kate was a little drunk and she tried to get him to drink more so he wouldn't remember if she did something embarrassing. Bod and Simon discussed the relative safety of drinking Egyptian beer and got to know each other before agreeing to get together to talk some more, which the squirrels insist is a date.
Sam P apparently has a strange nickname for Simon and interrogated him on why a non-partier would be at a party before making him explain why Egyptian beer is so strange. Sov put their hands... their? I'm not going to question the squirrels' grammar at this point. After all, it's impressive that they can write in English at all, and legibly at that. Ow! Why did you throw an acorn at me?
*chitters* *sound of something being dragged on the floor*
... Because the rum bottle is too heavy to throw at my head?
Okay, let's just keep going before they build a trebuchet. Sov put their hands over Juliet's eyes as a greeting, which led to discussion of how great the third floor is. Marshall told Scully about how the squirrels kidna-- persuaded him to try out for radio a few days ago, leading Scully to realize that she should have explained the gremlins and Deadpool, too. Which does remind me, today is the day that Sunday comes after. Scully told Toby why she didn't like Egyptian beer. And Percy spent some time in the sea.
Well, that's the end of the notes and the squirrels have opened the rum bottle to drink instead of threatening me with it, so I think that means I'm done for today. Oh, I have been passed one last note. To close us out, oh, some music? Please enjoy something appropriate. I don't actually know what the squirrels mean by that.
Have a good day, everyone, and on behalf of everyone here, thank you for listening to WTFH, Fandom's Pirate Radio.
Jitterbug....
