Fandom Radio, Sunday, May 1st
Congratulations, everyone! The year's officially over and that makes this my last radio broadcast. Yes, it's true. I'm getting the hell out of here so I can go film a movie based on the board game Monopoly. So don't be surprised when you see me as Mister Monopoly busting down a guy on a horse and telling him he can go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. See it, or I'll come back and kick everyone's ass.
Anyway, let's get on with this. The sooner I'm done here, the sooner I can put on my Uncle Moneybags moustache.
Dorms
Nathan was in his room, sending texts and smoking a bit when Ramona burst in to be unreasonably angry at him just because he's going back to England. Or should I say because he's leaving before she can? Dun dun dun.
Jacob and Caroline woke up together because Caroline snuck into his room Friday night and they discussed whether she was going to leave him for another guy. And the answer is of course she is. It's what high school girls do.
Clark started knocking on Cara's door to tell her he had to ditch graduation and leave forever thanks to trouble back home, so she decided she was going with. Okay, one third of high school girls stick with their guys. Maybe that many.
And Sookie was checking e-mail in her room when Bobby Drake showed up looking beat up after Sookie's brother beat him up. So at least he had a good reason.
Town
Isabella was people watching and food eating at Jeff, God of Biscuits early on Saturday.
Kyle was bumming around on a park bench in the evening when he had a conversation with a stranger named Sarah who took his discarded diploma, probably to sell it on eBay.
Eric opened the Devil's Nest on a sour note since nobody got decapitated by vikings and, you know, I'm with you. What, I'm not a teacher anymore. I get to say that crap. Because I'm evil. Marshall Gregson stopped in, got something non-alcoholic, and discussed Kate and Mitchell with Eric. Sookie needed to ask Eric about some kind of viking word thing - probably SPAM - and also to get a man drink from him to help her deal with her family. How sweet. Isabella came in for drinks and flirting and talk of naked dancing, hello, while Eric told her about the joys of denying teenagers alcohol.
And at Caritas, Jaina was holding a half-off sale for grads and guests, which seems misguided to me. Give the drinks to the people who still have school ahead of them. Let the people entering the real world just have shock. That's the fun way. Anyway. Fandom's Luke Skywalker come in and hugged and caught up with Jaina and talked about being a little kid on a mission and 'awwwwwwwww.'
And that's the most sarcastic awwwwww you'll ever hear. I even dropped finger quotes, in case you didn't hear them.
I told Jaina all about my upcoming movie, Monopoly, in theaters this fall, and drank to being done with you guys, who can all suck it. And then Rose caught up with Jaina about hitting New Orleans while being five and Jaina told her she was leaving forever except for visits or whatever. Jake Doyle talked to Jaina about how she's leaving forever and the vikings and all of that fun stuff. Dimitri stopped in to get a water and a Rose. And Bruce met George in the lounge for a date and a talk about how he was going to be stuck in the mountains for the summer. And penguins somehow came up. I don't want to know why.
Okay, that's all for that stuff. *sound of neck cracking* Time for the big one.
Graduation
Let's start with the audience, filled with people who weren't graduating yesterday.
Dolf looked like a dork with a giant fuzzy hat on his back, so Cally stared at him like a dork with a giant fuzzy hat on his back. Calvin's Suzie had a stuffed tiger for him. Ben hid from various versions of his family with Ender. Arthur and Leto caught up, with Leto talking about the past eight years while Arthur's only had a normal amount of time pass. And in what will probably be a trend, Arthur and Francine wondered what was going to happen to the grads. I bet nobody guessed "space vikings" and "island moving overnight."
Mitchell and Marshall talked about Kate going to college: Mitchell votes yay, Marshall votes nay. Mitchell and Jack Priest caught up about Jack's life in general and Mitchell's love life in particular. Raven moped about her friends graduating, but Dinah countered that with hugging and ice cream. Rinoa tried to ask Raven about Jono's post-grad plans while trying not to point out that he was leaving, probably forever. Tough to do, I know. I can't manage that.
Tara talked to Kennedy's sister and Watcher about their sister and... Watchee? I don't know. Anyway, she talked about a possible future with Kennedy and 'awwwwwwwww.' Once again, sarcasm. Leto met up with Ghanima in the stands and they were happy to see each other. Dinah spotted him, so Leto told her that he's caught up to Ghanima's time now.
Sookie's cousin-slash-stalker Claudine talked to Bobby Drake and told him all about how she's a stalker. No harm there. Rinoa gave Bobby crap for having a sign in the crowd. And here's where Sookie's brother Jason beat Bobby up for knocking Sookie up. Which he didn't do. Oops.
*silence* You're kidding me, right? Okay, fine. Leia's Luke ran into Anakin, who teaches here, and the Luke who went here, and Anakin got both of them to sit with him. Kudos to the squirrel who made that one easy to understand. But if that's not enough, Rikku hugged Leia's Luke, thinking he was Fandom's Luke.
George approached Bruce to set up the date I talked about earlier. Rilla played 'Name the Senior' with Sov. Rory and Juliet met up with Luke and Luke, which helped confused one of the Lukes a bit. Jaina and Rory talked about Juliet and how their family keeps graduating every year.
Bobby said hi to Emma's Hank since he has another Hank back home. Jaina and Zayne talked about what the grads were going to be going through. Francine and Katchoo had snacks and drinks as they settled in for the show. Dinah hugged Francine and talked about the reunion that I missed. Dinah and Sam Winchester compared college stories. Lindsay and Rinoa were glad they weren't graduating yet because they're insane. And Bruce gave Ramona a head's up about the kind of things that might happen since she hadn't seen a Fandom graduation yet.
Rinoa met Sooke's brother Jason, and Jason flirted with Rinoa. Rose and Dimitri cuddled in the audience. Karla and Rinoa plotted to keep people on the island. Karla met Claudine, who again talked about how she's a big old stalker. And Jason complimented Karla on her short skirt.
And after all of that and more, the procession started, with all the seniors walking two by two, side by side, except for Alex Karev. Roy and Sookie were stunned that graduation had finally come, except Roy was more stunned when Karla grabbed him and kissed him, which she had to explain to Sookie. And Dinah took pictures. Harper was optimistic that nothing would happen during the ceremony, but Emma was pessimistic. Kate teased Jaime because his robe was backwards. Effy and Dru tried to figure out how to escape graduation. And Jenny and Jono whined about the robes.
And then there were a bunch of speeches, namely Dean Stinson, Principal Winchester, a couple valedictorian speeches by Emma and Kennedy, and the student council president speech by Alex Karev.
And then everyone got their diplomas and lived happily ever after until the spaceship arrived and gave us vikings.
Let's start with the audience, which was separated from the grads with a force field. Francine and Katchoo were concerned, Jack and Rose were jealous, Kennedy's sister was excited, Quinn was freaked while Puck was impressed, and Momoko's friends were failures when they tried to get through the field. Momoko's family cheered the students, Anakin and Rory sighed, Leia's Luke was worried, and Eric yelled things in Viking while Jessica got him to teach her Viking things to yell.
*chitters*
They're from space and I can't be sure that's actual Swedish or Norwegian or whatever. So I'm calling it Viking. Deal with it.
Stupid squirrels.
Back to the grads, they had a trunk of weapons behind the podium to fight the vikings with. Jono set a viking's hair on fire before punching him. Leda shot one with a stun gun. Robin knocked a viking over from its helmet. Kennedy ended a sword fight with a viking with a kick to the nuts. Sookie cheated with mental powers before zapping a viking with electric powers. Leia used a stun blaster on a rude viking. Tahiri cheated with telekinesis, scaring three vikings away with her weird magic crap. Momoko caught thrown axe and beat a viking with it. Helen beat a viking with an arm-paddle. Dru beat one with a bat. A viking hit on Emma, so she just hit him. Kyle got the same treatment because apparently he looks like a girl to vikings. Same story for Jenny who actually is a girl, but she zapped him. Alex Russo cheated with a magic wand. Andros beat a viking in a sword fight. Roy shot one with arrows and punched him in the face.
And Kate, Harper, Effy, Karev, and Calvin all hid because they're chicken.
And then it was all over. and the spaceship left without the vikings.
Marshall checked in on Kate before Bod offered to take her to the mainland for the night. Angelo asked Jono how often weird things like space vikings happened. Raven got Jono's bandages back on and talked about their future. Blossom and Lino-O were trying to figure out why it was vikings, conveniently ignoring that they come from space and are beyond our puny Earth logic. Dinah and Blossom girl squealed at each other about graduating and surviving.
Kennedy tried to convince Dru that fighting vikings was fun. Sookie congratulated Kennedy's speech and fighting. Dinah mocked Kennedy's post-fight look, but Kennedy didn't care. Sookie talked to her friend Sam and bragged about how fancy her pants are in Fandom. Sookie also met her stalker cousin, but Claudine sent her off to her friends, probably because she likes watching from a distance.
Hank was mad Emma didn't tell him about the dangers of Fandom, what with space vikings and everything. Jaina congratulated Leia and suggested that this year's mayhem was better than last year's. Tahiri and Leia celebrated surviving before Leia's Luke came by and hugged her and told her how he spent time with Anakin, Rory, and himself.
Rose hassled Karev about not telling her he was StuCo president before. Tahiri was a bit more congratulatory toward Karev, and Ben congratulated her, and I'm getting sick of this boomeranging affection. Corran told Tahiri she could have the rest of the long day off - I don't know from what - and Ben introduced himself to Corran, who already knows a version of him because of course.
And that's all for graduation and for me. Monopoly: The Movie this fall. See it!
Anyway, let's get on with this. The sooner I'm done here, the sooner I can put on my Uncle Moneybags moustache.
