Fandom Radio, March 17

Cosette: Good morning again, everyone! At least I hope it's one.

Éponine: Depends on who you ask, then, doesn't it?

Cosette: And that's why I'm being particular about who I choose to ask.

Éponine: Good! That's clever. There's hope for you after all, Lark.

Cosette: Is that so? It's nice to see you being optimistic for a change.

Éponine: Yes, well, never mind, no one's listening to this to hear us go on. We've a job to do, so let's get to it and start with what happened yesterday at school.

Cosette: Yes, let's. Monsieur Stark wasn't in, so Johnny was teaching Science and Technology in his place, and teaching us about taking good selfies.

Éponine: That's such a funny word. But then I think it's a funny idea anyhow.

Cosette: Isn't it? I think it's nice, but it isn't anything you or I ever thought of being able to do growing up. And if anyone would be an expert on the matter, it would be Johnny.

Éponine: That's true. You'd only have to sit for hours on end, cramping up and trying not to move, if you wanted a portrait of yourself, and then only if you could afford it or knew someone who wouldn't mind drawing you as a favor. I don't miss it at all, I tell you that.

Cosette: I only miss little things. It's much easier to make nice things like we learned about in Baking, where Monsieur Lecter is no longer a reptile and taught us how to make brownies. The real kind, not out of a box. I don't actually mind those, but I feel as though I ought to apologize for it. Sparkle was distracted, which Monsieur Lecter noted, but then also informed Sparkle that he doesn't care to have . . . hmm. Should I read that note, if it's about something he doesn't care to have talked about on the radio?

Éponine: Good lord, you're too nice. Mis-Intelligence talked about spying the way it's shown in video games, and Adulting got cancelled on account of gremlins in the classroom. Smart of you, Kitty. Let's see, what have we got next -- ah! Seems Atton was listening to loud music in his office, and Bob took exception to this so they both ended up being smart-mouthed at each other.

Cosette: I'm sure that turned out nicely. It was awfully quiet in the dorms yesterday, but the weather was lovely, so Travis was up on the roof to enjoy it.

Éponine: I won't miss the snow either, I tell you. Eliot was keeping an awfully close eye on his staff at Luke's, and it's got them all jumpy. Can't say I blame them. Seems his mood isn't very nice lately, but then again, neither is Hatter's, as he was sulky and ignoring people at Cafe Fina. And good lord, it was busy again at Needful Things! I still haven't found the time to stop in. It never seems to be open when I come by.

Cosette: I only haven't gotten the chance because I keep getting caught up doing other things. But I do want to go and see the books. Mademoiselle Adler came in to have a look around and talk with Monsieur Gaunt about how nice people are around here. Carmilla was there to look at the books, though! I hope she found something nice.

Éponine: She must have. God knows everyone else seems to be. Emma was about for a visit, so she dropped by and talked with Monsieur Gaunt about how the island is full of rare and irresistible people, but maybe he oughtn't consider trying to buy and sell them . . . let's hope he takes that advice. Anyhow, she found some books she was interested in too. Kathy dropped back in, and Monsieur Gaunt wanted to know if she'd sent the jewelry to her sister yet. Pinkie came in as well -- again -- with a cake for Monsieur Gaunt and I'm not asking, I'm not, about why on earth it was decorated like a leg, or why she was back to look for more leg-shaped things, but she did find a pony-shaped toy that she liked. Hanna came back, too, to see about getting the record she wanted.

Cosette: No wonder the place is so popular.

Éponine: I'd like to see for myself. I'm curious, now. Everyone at the Devil's Nest was dressed in green last night, or at least Tiny and the DJ were. I'm not so sure about Jack, since he seemed suspicious of the green cocktails advertised on the sign, but Emma came in to see him, so he likely didn't give them much more thought. And -- good lord, Kenzi, what d'you think you're playing at, popping out of nowhere and scaring Tino at Caritas? I'd bet it was funny, though.

Cosette: It does sound like fun, come to think of it. I think I recall you and Azelma making a game of that a long time ago.

Éponine: D'you know, I think we did. Hey, squirrels! Have you got anything else for us today?

Cosette: Oh, look at that one shaking its head. Is that a no, then? Well, all right. And thank you for the ones you did have. Have a good day, everyone!

Éponine: Or try to, at least.
