Friday August 25, 2006 - Veronica and Archie's LAST radio broadcast

VERONICA: Good evening Fandom, this is Veronica and this is my last ever radio broadcast. *sounds of sniffling* No, I'm not crying. Shut up.

ARCHIE: And neither -- *sniff* -- am I. There's . . . a very strong smell of onions in here for some reason. Yes.

VERONICA: Exactly. We should start so we don't have to smell it for too long.

You Learn Something New Every Day

VERONICA: It was the last day of summer workshops. In Flight & Flying, they flew helicopters and wore silly hats. Alec told Molly why he was in the clinic. Jude, Alanna, Bridge, Dean and Molly all said goodbye to Anakin. *more sniffling* Meanwhile, over in Constant Vigilance, there was chattering, talking about things they learned, stating purposes, and The Doctor answering questions. And the cafeteria was quiet today.

Dorms: Where People are Getting Ready to Go

ARCHIE: In the second floor den of iniquity, and God, I'm going even going to miss the constant sound of your debauchery over my head, Bridge had pizza. Bel made an appearance and talked with Bridge, Dean, and Stark. Evidently there was talk of homicide. In that blasé, matter-of-fact Fandom way, I expect. I'm going to miss that too. Dean talked to Bridge and Sam about more violence, and Stark admired Bridge's hat and talked to Cally. Bridge and Xander were cute, and I'll never get to say that again! *sniffle* This isn't upsetting me, though. Really.

VERONICA: Well, you could still say it. But no one would understand.

ARCHIE: And Cally talked with Bridge and rendered Bel speechless. Bel hasn't been having the best time of it lately, has he?

VERONICA: That's an understatement.

ARCHIE: In the fifth floor common room, Walter watched Galaxy Quest and chatted with Gwynn. Walter and Pippi, my piratical fellow mariner, joked around, but Gwynn was somewhat "mopey," as the notes say. It's the season for that, I'm afraid, Gwynn. Walter introduced Joxer to cereal -- and you realize it'll take some getting used to, after I leave, when I have to remind myself that the cereal isn't likely to introduce itself to me? Because I wouldn't be surprised if Joxer had to introduce himself to the cereal. Nadia was there as well, and talked with Walter, Gwynn, and Pippi. Nadia, if I ever figure out how to get to llama school, I'll make sure to let you know, I promise!

VERONICA: I still can't believe that's your ring tone.

ARCHIE: It's a perfectly good ring tone! Would you rather that damned song about being drawn from the weeds?

VERONICA: Ugh, no. I still can't believe that's the only song we ever danced to. We should really stop by the dance marathon and dance to something else, anything else, before we leave town.

ARCHIE: Yes, we can't possibly leave it on that note. I'd certainly regret that.

VERONICA: No regrets. We're definitely hitting the marathon. As soon as we're done. Continue.

ARCHIE: Aye Aye, Captain. On the roof, Phoebe and Bel discussed their relationship and Blair. Ah, the roof. Haven of emo, brooding, and introspection. Professor Dean Tick and I used to spend many a thoughtful evening up there. *sniffle* John Connor was in the first floor lobby -- take care of the first floor for me, John! -- and learned that Tim is leaving as well. God, it's an exodus. *sniffle* Damn these onions.

VERONICA: Stupid onions. In other dorm goings on, Tyler was an insomniac this morning. Zack's family wished him a happy birthday. Happy Birthday Zack! You were a great student. *sniffle* Willow and English Peter were snuggly and adorable. Angela and Marty took a trip to DC to look at colleges. Even though you're not listening, I love you guys. Willow helped Marie get ready for her date with Jamie. Archie had a lot of visitors today. Isabel, Molly, Pippi and Phoebe all stopped by. Honey, should I be concerned by the fact that you had a bunch of girls in your room?

ARCHIE: I certainly hope not! Surprised, perhaps, but not concerned. I wouldn't want you to have reason to taser me, after all.

VERONICA: I told you a long time ago I'd never taser you. Moving on, Parker sent an email and I have to make sure I give you my email address before I leave on Sunday. Jack and Cedric were adorable. Gwynn and Tim talked about Tim leaving. It sucks that so many people are going away. Ranma and Pippi also talked to Tim. And my BFF, Piper, who is leaving tomorrow, talked to Willow about witchy stuff. Don't cast personal gain spells. They'll backfire. That's about as much witchy stuff as I know.

ARCHIE: That's more witchy stuff than I know. But it's still probably more than most people where we're going will know, isn't it?

VERONICA: Well, that's very true.

Town: Which We Will Miss, Even the Scary Sheriff

ARCHIE: Did you know we had classified ads now? Just in time for us to leave, sadly. Braca was mulling over them at town hall today. John Connor was barbecuing at Sparky Repairs Marie and Jamie had a date at Cafe Fina, and Lana opened up the bookstore whose name I will never have to struggle with again. Oh, hell. Maybe I'll practice saying it every day anyway, for old time's sake. Do you think people will think I'm crazy for that?

VERONICA: That might be one of the more normal things in Fandom to talk about.

ARCHIE: In Fandom, yes . . . but elsewhere?

VERONICA: Okay, it might be one of the more normal things about Fandom to talk about.

ARCHIE: That's true. "We had a bookstore called Aereopagitica" makes much more normal dinnertime conversation than "We were invaded by dancing lemurs once."

VERONICA: I think there's a lot of things about this place that no one would believe.

ARCHIE: Look! Our last broadcast and there was actually clinic activity! I shouldn't be excited about this. Honestly, it means people got injured. But no one got detention and I didn't have one last chance to give my speech about being flogged at the gratings, so I have to make do. The clinic was bustling with activity during Alanna's shift this morning. Jamie, Cameron, Rory (hello for the last time, Rory!), Isabel, Anakin, Alanna, and of course John Crichton the Erstwhile Menagerie Man -- *choked sob* -- were all there to visit Aeryn. Alec got visits from Tyler and clothes, Dean who evidently had been there all night anyhow, Jaye, Rory (hello again, Rory! *sniffle*), and Alanna, who let him out.

VERONICA: Wow, I wonder if there's something going around. There's usually only that many people in the clinic during invasions.

ARCHIE: Well, I suppose you could say the clinic was invaded. Aeryn was still in the clinic during Doctor Lambert's shift in the evening, where she was visited by Molly before Doctor Lambert allowed her to leave.

VERONICA: At Caritas tonight, The Doctor and Daisy, Rory and Anakin, Isabel and Greg, Jarod and Parker and Jay and Silent Bob are all competing in the twenty four hour dance marathon that is still going on. Everyone is welcome to stop by there and watch. Elliot and Janet were there to make sure the dancers were healthy. I'm assuming they were assessing physical health, not mental health, because you'd have to be insane to agree to dance for twenty four hours.

ARCHIE: Evidently the lovely Sam Carter and Janet think it was insanity too, since they made sure to get prime seats for mocking purposes. On the first dance floor break, Isabel talked about different dances with Cedric, who also learned something about dance marathons from Sam Carter. Sam and Jack Harkness, whom I'll always remember as being a hell of a kisser, shared a dance, as did Jack and Cedric.

VERONICA: You kissed Jack?

ARCHIE: It was quite a while ago. There wasn't even any glitter.

VERONICA: I bet it was pretty. Even without glitter.

ARCHIE: I wasn't exactly in a position to observe at the time.

VERONICA: It would be wrong for me to ask you to recreate it so I could take pictures, wouldn't it?

ARCHIE: Tell me, Veronica, do people get this excited by boykissy outside of Fandom?

VERONICA: I don't think so.

ARCHIE: Jack really was quite busy, wasn't he? He talked to Isabel during the second break, and Parker of whom I have many fond memories of flirtation at the third break. Jude, sadly, was quite mopey. *sniffles*

VERONICA: And speaking of being mopey - *sniffles* - I think that's all the news for tonight.

ARCHIE: Suddenly I wish there was more. Strange, often indecipherable notes and all. *faint whimper* Veronica, I don't really want to sign off for the last time.

VERONICA: I don't either. We could just sit here all night and talk about random things.

ARCHIE: Oh! Like how to get to llama school!

VERONICA: Yes, or that dreadful song that everyone seems to love.

ARCHIE: I'd really rather not talk about that. Perhaps it's best to end the broadcast after all. You do know what they say about all good things. *sniffle*

VERONICA: *sniffle* Yes, I suppose you're right. We shouldn't be sad. Let's celebrate and remember a year in the life of friends.

ARCHIE: I'll never forget how many minutes are in a year now, either. So, for the last time, Fandom, this is former Lieutenant Archie Kennedy . . .

VERONICA: And Veronica Mars, signing off.

ARCHIE: Wishing you a fair wind, clear skies, and a very good night -- and a wonderful life -- indeed. We love you, Fandom. Take good care of yourselves.

VERONICA: And take good care of each other. We'll miss you all!

*muffled sniffling* Do you think they believed us about the onions . . .?

*mic cuts out*
