Fandom Radio, Tuesday, November 13th
Good morning, Fandom. This is Jonothon Starsmore, once again bringing you yesterday's news, today. Which around here is about as quickly as you need to get any of this information, so you'll take yesterday's news and be happy for it. Won't you?
Mmm.
We'll start, as usual, with School, where Jaye's Philosophy class watched a video about Ice Spiders. I can only hope the island doesn't get any ideas from that. Zayne's Business class learned about the importance of taking sick days when you feel ill, by taking a sick day, because Zayne was feeling ill. And in Two Lions, Tyrion taught students about bureaucracy, using candy as a learning tool. I can't imagine I'd want candy so badly if I had to fill out forms in triplicate, witnessed by three other students and the teacher. Which might very well be the point, I suppose.
In the Library, William spent his shift cleaning up after the practical joke books. Really, our library seems to invite this trouble by having books like that in it, doesn't it? Science! Club took place in a greenhouse yesterday, and they did all manner of things with plants, particularly making- er- vegetable batteries? Which appears to have taken on a sort of politically correct meaning, what with GLaDOS being the club supervisor. Because of that, Liara and Evan made certain to check on the Danger Shop's safeties before having a long discussion about AI from where they're from, to Victor's dismay.
In the Dorms, in Yeul's room in particular, Yeul explained to Liara why she was painting her beads, in order to keep the colours from getting too faded. Topher was in the rec room, destroying zombies in a video game after sleeping most of his day away. Jessica, meanwhile, was dubious about how safe some ice cream was that had been left out just begging to be eaten in the fifth floor common room. She and Olive were somewhat suspicious about it together, but more suspect was Olive's role as an oracle, as she didn't warn Jessica about how they might wake as pelicans or something until well after she'd already eaten some. Victor speculated to Olive that it would be more likely to turn them into mutant lizards, and then they discussed the possibility of a line of psychostimulant ice cream. 'Apple Adderall' actually did sound somewhat appealing... Victor speculated to Jessica that there might be some sort of ice cream rodeo in town, but that theory was discounted on the grounds that there were no ice cream rodeo clowns. I can find no flaw in that logic, actually. Huh. Jessica gave Sia recommendations on ice cream flavours before they exchanged the typical 'how are you doing' pleasantries, and then Olive revised her 'pelican' theory to either goldfish or mermaids, which Sia was somewhat opposed to, for good enough reason. I never thought to ask the only mermaid I've ever known if she was ever worried about drying out on land. And now that's going to haunt me.
In Town, Kitty and Clint had a movie night, which was only slightly delayed due to disorganized DVDs. He brought his dog along, and they talked about how Lucky's doing better, and proper feedings-dogs-pizza etiquette. Electroclash had a productive, clean-all-the-things sort of day, and rewarded herself for all of that grown-up stuff by sitting down and reading a magazine on her couch.
Cade was making productive use of his time at work at Stark Industries by building a device to fling gummi bears into the ceiling. Which... Actually, he could probably market those, if he can get it to throw them hard enough that they stick. Alice was cleaning all those guns that you can't buy over at Wellspring Arms. Jack had Christmas music at the Devil's Nest, and while Derek wasn't thrilled about that, he did invite Jack to spend Thanksgiving with himself and his sister. Oh, is that coming up? I didn't notice, what with all of the bloody Christmas things choking it out already. April was also Not Best Pleased about the early holiday music, but being surrounded by alcohol mitigated that fact slightly, at least until Jack reminded her that the Devil's Nest actually obeys liquor laws. Hard luck. And then they talked about her gay boyfriends, and about how he's dating Emma... Who I really ought to check up on sometime soon. Lord, I'm a terrible friend. Jaina was the one who eventually triumphed over festivity by threatening the DJ, and then she and Jack discussed how long they're planning on sticking around Fandom, and how thankful they were that the other weekend didn't have any unfortunate lasting effects, like comas.
So, there's my parting advice to those of you on the island, from somebody who's been there: Avoid comas. And possibly mysterious common room ice cream. I haven't heard any pelican squawking or mutant lizards running about yet today, so I can only assume you're all half-dried-out goldfish by now, and extend my deepest sympathies.
Have a good day on that sunshiney note, Fandom.
