You have until tomorrow to sign up to help with the radio this summer!

(Broadcasters who have already signed up, if you can note whether you'd squirrel your own links or would prefer someone to do them for you, I would love you EVEN MORE THAN I DO ALREADY.)

Also, head to the new radio comm to bask in even more MP header awesomeness.

Hola, squirrels! With the trip starting today and no classes to recap, the beats are going to change a bit this week:

If you normally grab SCHOOL, you'll be getting the morning trip post.
If you normally grab DORMS, you'll be getting the evening trip post.
If you normally do TOWNIES, you'll be grabbing whatever's left in Fandom/trip posts posted in people's personal journals.

We'll be back to our normal schedule next Sunday when we get back. If a post explodes and you need help, drop a comment in the linkdrop and let us know!

If anyone is wanting to radio, for one night or more, or to squirrel at all, signups are open over yonder till tomorrow afternoon.

We're actually pretty good on squirrels, but a tad short on broadcasters. Don't ask me how that got reversed, but hey.

OOC: Radio signups!

A new semester is starting! That means it's time for another call for radio help. We're always looking for new talent, so if you've got a character who would like to be the weekly voice of the radio for the fall (or someone who wouldn't like it but you want to force them into it anyway), this would be the place to sign up. Teachers, townies and students are welcome!

Beginning Sunday, August 24, anyone who's interested gets their shot at an audition broadcast (meaning that they’ll do a recap for everyone to read that goes up sometime before noon Eastern time the next day (So the Tuesday broadcast covers Monday's news)). You're also free to sign up if you want to do radio just once. And then if you haven't run screaming and we have more people trying out than slots, we put up a poll at the end of tryouts and from there we get the seven broadcasters for the semester if it's necessary. If you're currently a broadcaster, your shift continues until tryouts start.

You can also sign up here to be a radio squirrel! We need help in gathering the day's links for the broadcaster to... broadcast, and so if you'd like to be squirrelly, this would be the place. If you'd like to help but aren't sure what you'd be getting into, there's an unlocked tutorial here so you can see what actual links look like. As a reminder, we always need squirrels so people don't tire out recapping everything, and without them, radio doesn't work, so if that feels like something you might want to be a part of, please sign up!

These'll be open till say about noon PST on Saturday the 23rd.

Happy almost new semester! Now's that time when we put out the call for radio help! We're always looking for new talent, so if you've got a character who would like to be the weekly voice of the radio for the fall (or someone who wouldn't like it but you want to force them into it anyway), this would be the place to sign up. Teachers, townies, students, all are welcome!

Beginning Sunday, August 26, anyone who's interested gets their shot at an audition broadcast (meaning that they’ll do a recap for everyone to read that goes up sometime before noon Eastern time the next day (So the Tuesday broadcast covers Monday's news)). You're also free to sign up if you want to do radio just once. SO. With the BDE coming up, there's going to have to be a couple changes to radio for the duration (July 23-29). The first being that the radio is under Umbridge's control. The loyalists will be the ones broadcasting for this week.

But never fear, because the resistance will be reporting via underground newspaper. Equal opportunity for all, y'all!

Now what does this mean? Basically, if you have a regular radio broadcast, you can get a week off if you want it. We'll be having two different open sign ups, one for radio (run by me), one for the newspaper (run by Carl ICly and his player OOCly). If you want to sign up your normal character for your normal slot for the week, please do! If you want the week off, go take it! If you don't normally do any kind of broadcasting but just want to do it once with a minion/non-minion, sign up!

Oh, and if by some chance there are too many people for both radio and/or the paper, then obviously you'll all end up in a Hunger Games-style arena and whoever gets out gets the days.
[personal profile] fates_jaye
There's still time to sign up for radio, whether you want to broadcast or do the squirreling! If you're interested, please drop a comment by say, 9 am CST tomorrow (Friday) so I can get things figured out before I go off for travels tomorrow! Exclamation points!

Jack's voice was decidedly blearly as it came over the radio:

"What do you mean, there's no coffee? Unacceptable, tiny rodents!"

There was some urgent chittering.

"Oh, right. Radio...things. Congratulations to the following minions:

Cara
Jack Carter, Columbus Ohio, and GodHelpUsJamie Madrox--I'm sure that's not his name...
Annie Edison
Miley Stewart
Butters Stotch
Peter Wiggin

Oh, and me. Well done, me! Please greet these islanders with the respect they deserve for such an august position and for the love of God find me some coffee."

With that, Jack was gone again.

The time of year when we look for radio talent! And we’re looking for a few good men/women/other to become the island's voice for the summer.

Students, teachers, townies, newcomers, old hands—everyone is welcome to try out!

Beginning Tuesday, August 29th (the first full week with all the newbies), everyone who’s interested—new talent and old talent—will have an on-air audition (meaning that they’ll do a recap for everyone to read that goes up sometime before noon Eastern time the next day (So the Tuesday broadcast covers Monday's news)). It’ll also give them an idea of how much time the coding will take and give them a final chance to flee from the chaos).

We’ll then put up a poll and you’ll all get to vote for the seven people/things who will be bringing the news to Fandom for the Fall!

This is also your chance to do a one-off: if you've always wanted to do radio for just one night, here's the place to volunteer for it! You can also sign up here to volunteer to become an honorary squirrel, one of our intrepid research staffers. After the tryouts are completed you can also decide if you want to stay or run screaming into the distance ala a Warner Brothers cartoon.

If you're interested, please drop a comment in this post.

Thanks!

Johnny hadn't decided to verify that theory by checking a clock.

"Heeeeeeey there, babies, we have the results of your mighty fine demonstration of democracy today! Congratulations to your new radio talent:

Seely Booth, Dick Casablancas, Jim Halpert & Pam Beesly, Cher Horowitz, Jamie Madrox, Dean & Sam Winchester, and Turtle Wexler & Jeff Murdock.

You can pick up your paychecks--"

There was loud squirrel-ly chittering.

"Sorry. Report to the booth on your assigned day. Bring rum."

There was more chittering.

"No, I'm not saying that. Ow! Or that either. Ow! Jack, whoever you are, send the squirrels some kind of tribute. I'm not being held responsible by the FCC for whatever profanity these guys report about you."
